It’s gotta be the increase in velocity and movement causing this. Maybe one or both are caused by the sticky substances but for some reason I don’t think the sticky substances make all the difference
If you think back to 06, a pitcher throwing 100 with no movement out of the pen was a must see event on TV. Now the average starter can throw 97-98 when needed
It’s a crazy proposal, but what if the mound needs to be moved back 6 inches
Arenado fell asleep there and I really don’t blame him. Who can blame him?! HahaThis team spends a lot of time in the field. Probably the hardest part about watching
Pretty infuriating to turn it on and hear broadcast team talk about how the Cards “FLAT OUT DEVELOP TALENT” while talking about all the guys on different teams haha

Yeah, the Ozuna trade looks to be the worst of the bunch, but a friend of mine said the uptick in stuff Gallen got to step up to the next level was something no one really saw coming. Alcantara would be very nice to have, but as several others have mentioned, there was a lot of pressure to get a bat that offseason. We ended up losing the trade.
Goldy’s decline is disappointing, but what would we be doing with Carson Kelly? Would we really have moved him to first? Also, last time I checked Tyler O’Neill has far better numbers than Kelly, so I don’t know if you can say he’d be our best hitter. The ball flies in Arizona as well.
Trades will always look different over time. Hopefully, Liberatore becomes an ace or a high-end 2. Right now, we seem to need pitching more than hitting, so it is nice to have Liberatore in Triple-A. Without him, there would really be no hope for the future of the rotation right now.
Our front office does seem to need a shake-up, but keeping around the people responsible for drafting Jordan Walker and Nolan Gorman types would be nice.

Back in the win column. Usually against the Marlins id just expect it but a win just feels good against anyone right now
So far, O’Neill is the silver lining to the season
I don’t know. The other team touches third a lot. I’d feel better about this recent streak if we weren’t losing games our pitching staff holds the other team to zero earned runs
We might get a nice draft pick to replace arenado after he opts out
Yeah there aren’t any reinforcements in the way unless you trade every valuable asset in the farm (please don’t). This team has gone from sucking to unwatchable. I just tuned in for end because I LOVE to inflict pain on myself
The only thing that helps me is following our two healthy prospects (Gorman and Liberatore)
Yeah just lack of depth combined with missed minor league season last year (a cause of lack of depth) combined with injuries, and goldy just isn’t the player we thought he’d be with bat or glove
I guess I’ll watch the rest though
Wooster it is very hot in Chicago. I knew about pitch 8 that Rizzo shot was coming with our recent luck (if we can call it luck after 2.5 months)
Obvious arenado and goldy won their GGs with highlight reel plays and high ops playing for small market teams
Oviedo seems to have hit a hiccup. Tough to know we’ll probably have to see four innings of bp
Also yadi has missed a decent amount of balls like the one inside by Oviedo that should’ve been caught this year
Yeah sad to say but this looks like a team in free fall. My expectations have changed twice in the last few weeks
1st – this team could be a World Series contender
2nd – this is the type of team that can beat the bad teams, make the playoffs, and make noise if they get really hot
3rd – the depth concerns are even worse than I feared (probably was just trying to be too positive). This team probably isnt salvageable due to that lack of organizational depth and injuries piling up
Yadi removed with injury. We have to be getting close to bringing double A guys up with all these injuries

Well I just caught the score after finishing some things up. Offense not picking us up when we need it most unfortunately
It’s a sad (and also nice) realization, but there are probably a lot of guys out there that can be acquired for a low price tag that could help this team. We won’t upgrade our starting lineup with these guys but better they can help the bottom half of the pen, provide rotational depth, and improve the bench. Don’t ask me who they are, but I know guys with sub 5 ERAs and 200 BAs can be acquired for very little (and can help this team in its current state)

It is nice to have Burleson and Nootbar doing well.
I will say the lack of depth in the high minors is concerning, but I’m here to talk about the positives. Seeing two top prospects in their age 20 season (Herrera and Gorman) having success at Double-A already is great to see
We might not have pitching depth, but Liberatore has top of the rotation stuff, which we haven’t really seen much in our minor leagues the last few years. Even when Flaherty was cruising through the minors, there were questions about whether his stuff was top of the rotation. His stuff is good, but not elite compared to some of the top end guys these days. The elite tunneling makes up for that though
Also very nice to see our first round pick, Jordan Walker, have such a hot start to full season ball at age 18. Just hope he gets healthy soon.
So to sum things up, the depth appears to be lacking but we seem to have more prospects with potential to be big league cornerstones. Not saying they all will be or they all won’t be, but it builds some excitement
