Crazy we’re still in this. I guess no one wants it. Schedule gets tough so it would be nice to be a little closer. I’m not gonna complain about a W vs the reds though!
August 27, 2021 at 1:38 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 123 thread – Thursday, August 26 at Pirates #170850This team is not good. It’s something different every night. Usually bullpen or offense. Sometimes starting pitching. It’s quite the puzzle, but I’m definitely not gonna make time for the games the rest of the season, but I usually don’t go out of my way too bad. So I’ll probably be watching still hahaha
August 26, 2021 at 11:47 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 122 thread – Wednesday, Aug. 25 vs. Tigers #170796I was talking to a buddy who works in FO for an MLB team and usually has positive things to say about almost everything. Said I was surprised the Cardinals were still in the WC race and his response was “me too, that roster STINKS.”
Thought it was an interesting perspective from someone involved in the game. Take it FWIW but I was surprised to hear that kind of response
He’s also been very high on Jordan Walker and Masyn Winn since we drafted them
August 25, 2021 at 3:39 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 122 thread – Wednesday, Aug. 25 vs. Tigers #170750A win is a win. Especially for this team over the last week and a half
August 25, 2021 at 3:24 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 122 thread – Wednesday, Aug. 25 vs. Tigers #170741Good work by McFarland. A little luck with the bad baserunning
August 25, 2021 at 2:37 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 122 thread – Wednesday, Aug. 25 vs. Tigers #170728Feels like Schoop is hitting 1.000 against us
August 25, 2021 at 2:25 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 122 thread – Wednesday, Aug. 25 vs. Tigers #170724Maybe we found one or two more pieces for our bullpen next year in McFarland and Garcia. I guess that’s the bright side of having to bring in a bunch of journeymen
August 20, 2021 at 12:00 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 118 thread – Friday, August 20 vs. Pirates #170255And that’s what would be fun about making the playoffs. We’d probably be the worst team in there from the NL, but any team that makes it can string together a run
August 20, 2021 at 11:58 am in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 117 thread – Thursday, August 19 vs. Brewers #170254I was with you all the way Pugs! Ever since I the new login standards, I’m a little lazy logging in to chat on my phone during games
This year I’ve realized I enjoy watching Cards baseball no matter what. I watched when we didn’t seem to have a chance at the wild card and enjoyed it because I still love the Cards. It might be frustrating to think of ownership mistakes or see us lose, but I’ve taken a step back to realize I enjoy this and it’s a positive experience to watch the game no matter what the standings might say
August 19, 2021 at 8:59 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 117 thread – Thursday, August 19 vs. Brewers #170211That was probably the most exciting moment(s) of the year!
The individual prospect grades from MLB seem to be quite conservative. They also don’t build potential in for young players IMO
Very interesting to see the prospect list. A lot has changed!
August 18, 2021 at 10:05 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 116 thread – Wednesday, August 18 vs. Brewers #170116Unfortunate. This game feels very important and still a chance but you leave the door open when you don’t score for 6 straight innings. Hopefully hader isn’t as sharp in his second night in a row. Doubtful
July 28, 2021 at 2:56 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 102 thread – Wednesday, July 28 at Indians #168115We have a 500 club. Disappointing after the start we had, but it’s the reality.
26-8 when we get a quality start. We need to address the rotation depth and bullpen. Would love to see a move for a plug-in second baseman like Josh Harrison or Schoop, who would at least provide a bench bat, too. Maybe Gorman will be ready, but I don’t think you can rely on him breaking camp with the team at this point. Would be great to have Tommy as a utility man though
We’re in good shape with position players, which is nice. Just gotta plug some of the remaining holes wisely. It’s definitely possible to fill those holes with guys who would take 1-2 year deals with reasonable AAVs. Plenty of guys that can ops over 400 or have an ERA below 6 and fill bench and bullpen roles out there
Pretty happy to see Jordan Walker doing as well as he is in Peoria. He could easily get to AA in his age 19 season next year. He might even start there at this rate!
July 25, 2021 at 9:52 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 100 thread – Sunday, July 25 at Reds #167816Worth noting O’Neill and Vader have ops’s 100+ points higher than arozarena and 60+ points higher than adolis Garcia
An interesting name to me is Brandon Crawford. He’s old and probably heading back to Giants, but I wonder what the market for him will be. Obviously not a LT solution but I’d be intrigued
I like going after Scherzer. Premium pitcher who should cost money on annual basis but won’t require a 6+ year deal like most SS’s
With the SS market so loaded, I would love to see Marcus Semien on a prove it deal (in terms of years, obviously annual value would still be high). In the last four seasons, he’s been great in two and not so great in two; however, I like to throw away the covid year, and if you do that, he has back to back great seasons
July 9, 2021 at 4:24 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 89 thread – Friday, July 9 at Cubs #166119Cubs finally found a team they can beat I guess! Pretty disappointing Friday after taking a series from Giantsp
Yes 27 – we might have a strong position player pipeline if they keep it up. Nunez not crushing it but definitely doing the best with his promo out of the three 3B, which is a good sign given he was least certain prospect of the three and all three promos were aggressive. I like them all but tough adjustments for age
We might have two prospects that we thought were gone in Perez and Plummer. Easy to forget they’re the same age as A guy like Burleson. Those two oppo shots by Plummer were cranked. Impressive power there
Is Perez becoming a legit prospect again? The recent numbers are hinting at the possibility and talk said he really transformed his body during the 2020 shutdown
The best player we have to sell is Adam Wainwright, which would never happen. What else would anyone want
To get Paul Dejongs contract gone we’d probably have to throw a prospect in right now
June 24, 2021 at 8:42 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 75 thread – Thursday, June 24 vs. Pirates #164723Not looking probable. I don’t want to think like this, but maybe the best thing for the organization would be a continued slide rather than a minor resurgence that allows us to look “competitive” in the worst division in baseball
I don’t think we need a complete rebuild but a clean house in the dugout and some new faces running the front office might be nice, especially with all the money coming off the books
June 24, 2021 at 8:30 pm in reply to: 2021 Cardinals MLB Game 75 thread – Thursday, June 24 vs. Pirates #164720Now that’s a real shake up mike and one is like to see
A bomb from Reynolds puts some pressure on the offense
At this point you might as well DFA Carlos
