“This is my home. This is my team,” Gallegos told MLB.com following the Cards’ forgettable 14-3 loss to the Nationals. “I like the city and I like the people, and I play for them. I’ve always enjoyed the game and I’ve always tried to be better for the people of this city.” Giovanni Gallegos
“I like this guy a ton,” Marmol said of Gallegos, who struck out four hitters over 1 2/3 innings on Saturday. “You look at this guy’s workload over the last few years and he’s been a horse for us. So, whenever someone has a down period, it’s easy to throw them aside, but I think highly of Gio.” you clowns didn’t like him that much.
Hours later he’s gone…not that it shouldn’t happen but this franchise continues to just amaze with its mismanagement.

June 8, 2024 at 6:03 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #65 thread – Saturday, June 8 vs. Rockies #255577Lol. It’s just how mediocre teams go. They can be up for a week and then follow it up with a losing stretch that exceeds the short winning streak. They are what we thought they were.

It’s safe to say that Pallante experiment didn’t take too long to fail.
June 1, 2024 at 6:47 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #58 thread – Saturday, June 1 at Phillies #254599And just like that they’re back. Lol.
Lol, I’m sure he does 1TD.
Just when I was out they dragged me back in.
I didn’t think they had it in them to recover from the huge hole they were in but they’ve climbed back to .500 and have a shot. There isn’t a whole lot of good baseball being played in the league so why not the Cardinals being there in the end. I wouldn’t mind being wrong from earlier.
For all the whiners and complainers on here do realize only 9 teams (4 NL) have lost fewer games than the Cardinals?
It just says there’s been a lot of parity or mediocre baseball to this point in the season. I’ll let y’all pick which camp you want to reside in.
Gotta be happy with how things have gone the past 12 games or so. The only minor complaint would be the starting pitching not going beyond 5 innings. At some point that’s gotta change or the bullpen will be on fumes. They have a pulse so they keep our attention for a while longer.
On a side note, I really love Winn. The kid just gets better and better. I’ve liked him going back to when I first saw him play a couple of years ago and thought he might have the chance to be as good as Ozzie. So far he’s on that path.
Friday’s rain out solved the rotation problem this turn. Mikolas will start this game.
Did it really solve it? Mikolas hasn’t exactly been a go to starter so far this season. Hopefully he has a good outing.
May 22, 2024 at 5:45 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #50 thread – Wednesday, May 22 vs. Orioles #253259Miracles never cease. Good on them for sweeping the O’s. I didn’t think they had it in them. Maybe they have a pulse after all.
Joe Dimaggio – When asked why he played so hard, he replied: “Because there is always some kid who may be seeing me for the first time. I owe him my best.”
The modern day St. Louis Cardinals clearly don’t see it the same way. One was a major winner, the other, well not so much.
I totally agree BW.
That might have been the best game of the season to date. Not saying much but they played better and with some emotion. It will be interesting to see if they can repeat it.
That was a dumb baserunning error. I’d send him down for it. Ridiculous.
WTF, Romero with the punch out and shows some emotion. I like it. Maybe there’s something to the clubhouse issue being the lead dog.
Hum, Marmol exits stage left and suddenly Goldschmidt has two hits including a homerun and two rbis. Well….
That’s hilarious bike Mike.
Fifth innings an Mikolas is done. Right on schedule.
Lol reverse jinx on myself.
Right lol
Hitting coach Turner Ward is managing the team for the rest of the game.
Unless Danny D also got tossed I think the bench coach usually takes over when the manager gets ejected.
I believe he did get ejected as well.
About time Goldschmidt got ahold of one.
When did umpires decide it was in their best interest to stalk after a manager after he’s been tossed?
Marmol said something that got under the umps skin and that response was unprofessional. No doubt it was about balls and strikes and the missed calls earlier in the series by the first base ump when behind the plate and two today at first. The ejection was further fueled by the frustration of this season and past week plus of games. It’s been brewing for a while and was a combustible situation waiting to be lit and it was.
