The only reason I can think of that none of the players are hitting this year is they hate Marmol and want to see him canned.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an entire team in a batting slump at once.

And no, nobody is going to trade for Goldschmidt this year. When you trade for a player at the deadline, it is with the expectation that he is going to help you make the playoffs, at a minimum.

And I don’t think anybody will trade for three years of Arenado, either.

Arenado would have a little value if we take on salary, but I don’t know if it is worth trading him given the return we would likely get. Better to stick it out with him at 3B and hope he starts pulling the ball again getting XBH. Arenado has never had great EV and his power is very dependent on pulling to the short side of the field.

I don’t know why I watch Mikolas games as it is so frustrating. At this point I would rather turn his rotation spot over to Liberatore. It isn’t like Liberatore could pitch any worse and him gaining experience will be much better for the future Cardinals than Mikolas.

Libby’s usage reminds me of Thompson and Woodford.

I’m a few minutes late and we are already losing. Mikolas has gone from so-so to bad. He will be 36 in August. That is 98 in pitcher years, and he is owed $18.5M next year. Yikes.

Yeah, Albert, Mikolas gets hit hard and often. He allowed more hits and ER’s than any other pitcher in the NL last season.

The umpire got rid of Marmol for us.

    And now Descalso.

    That’s how you clean house.

For the first time in his tenure I’m happy with something Marmol did. About time someone showed some damn emotion on this team besides Contreras.

Did Oli just get ejected from his last game as the Cards skipper?

In the shadows, Crawford looks like Burly. Same shape and long hair. Not what you would expect of a SS.

Hopefully, the Cardinals front office will get the clue.

I noticed we are already 0-6 with RISP.

@Texascard yeah this team needs a few sparkplugs who show emotion. Bring in some energy and it helps the team and likely fan interest as well. Look at how exciting Elly del la Cruz is in part due to his energy.

What happened that caused them to be ejected?

I was outside for awhile and missed it.

When did umpires decide it was in their best interest to stalk after a manager after he’s been tossed?

The umpires look roided up – probably why they were so aggressive.

Marmol said something that got under the umps skin and that response was unprofessional. No doubt it was about balls and strikes and the missed calls earlier in the series by the first base ump when behind the plate and two today at first. The ejection was further fueled by the frustration of this season and past week plus of games. It’s been brewing for a while and was a combustible situation waiting to be lit and it was.

It must be Christmas in May with Goldy hitting a HR

That’s a genuine possibility, ZTR. Not sure I’ve ever seen an umpire or an official in any sport pursue a confrontation as aggressively as did the HPU. It appeared to me that he initiated physical contact and could be justifiably accused of bullying the smaller Redbird manager.

Good for Goldy. He’s a good dude and dues not deserve his fate so far this year.
