Which is why you cut the cord and clean house. This half assed approach to their business is why they have this mess to begin with.

This is NOT a serious franchise any longer. That was not in doubt, but this hitting coach hire proves it if you had any doubt. It saddens me to see this once proud franchise in such disarray with very little hope of being competitive for the foreseeable future.

Moneyball wasn’t the birth of obp, but a wonk in OAK did prove obp and slg are not equals, and for me, that was the theme of “Moneyball”.

The same wonk had a gm who couldn’t afford slg, so he bought into obp, out of necessity.

    I wonder if Buck would prefer a .400 obp, or .400 slg%?

SLG…that isn’t necessarily true. Buck was spot on with his comments. What people fail to remember outside of those pitchers they also had a dynamite third baseman and SS. Go check their SLG. You’ll see what I mean. That team wasn’t as desperate as it was made out to be. Oh, and I’m sure you’ll see Buck would take those two guys SLG as it was well over 100 points higher than your 400. Just sayin’.

Moneyball is bullshart. Always was and proved not a damn thing.

Seeing how they’ve had a very spotty track record of hiring coaches, I wouldn’t be too optimistic. And anyone placing great faith in a guy that was dismissed from his prior job for not getting it done is soon to be disappointed. But so goes the present version of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Club.

This franchise is a mess. I and others have been saying it for a while now. Until there is a complete house cleaning at every level of the organization these “moves” are just a rearranging of the deck chairs.

That’s just half of the equation. The other half is talent based and that requires an upgrade as well. A coach can only get so much out of the turnip.

Well Willie the Mets didn’t lose. Their money players came through when it counted. That’s called star power. The Cardinals used to have that but no longer do and that’s the damn point.

How’s it wrong. The team with the power won and so did the other three. Close doesn’t matter. The off-season is here for them. They just didn’t have the horses in the end and lost two of three at home and frankly should have been swept.

This post season, especially the NL, shows that deep pockets own this thing. All big, big spenders are in the final four standing. It just shows the overwhelming gap between the Cardinals and the leaders of the NL. If the Brewers are your goal your wasting time and money BDW III.

This franchise is absolutely done like a Thanksgiving turkey. What a joke of a press conference.

Unfortunately he’s not the only reason this team is where it is.

You what makes good managers? Good players and this team doesn’t have enough of them.

I don’t disagree in concept, but he isn’t good at all. He simply can’t do the easy moves. He’s in way over his head and it’s very clear on a daily basis.

That was some of the most piss poor baseball I’ve ever seen. Literally didn’t even try to hold the runners before the double steal. This team is so pitifully managed.

Disappointed they lost, but glad I went. I got to spend time with some coworkers and that made it worth it. Going again tomorrow so maybe they can turn it around and get in the win column.

Oliver Marmol is just horrid. Gibson was clearly laboring 5 hitters before he was taken out of the game. Goldschmidt, he’s about done. His lower half is a mess and he’s cheating to get to the fastball as he has no base and his bat speed is very slow. It’s time to move on from him after the season. There’s much more, but watching this live is tough.

This team just can’t score runs. I keep asking over and over – IS THE HITTING COACH THE PROBLEM?????

Or are the players we have just not worth a sh~t?????

    Yes, yes.

If my math is correct all of the Cardinal deadline deals were revenue neutral. They did not add any payroll at all.

It’s arguable if they added any talent at all. They most certainly didn’t do enough to win in the post season if they fluke out and make it in. Nah, they aren’t making it in.

On paper, this is a good trade. We will just have to see how it plays out. But for today Mozeliak did well.
