A nice offensive lineup today. With Winn and Burly at the top and Carp and Carlson at 8 and 9. Need some slugging from Goldy, Gorman and Arenado in the middle.

The Cardinals used 5 BP arms in 5 IP’ed last night after using 3 relievers in 4.1 IP’ed on Thursday. I’ll bet the Redbird manager wishes this afternoon’s Cardinal SP’ers first name was Robert.

1TB Hey at least Gibson has the last name for the job. Gibson has been good for 6 quite often. I imagine they will try whatever they can to get him there tonight with the heavy BP use yesterday.

Yeah, I don’t guess they’ll have much of a choice but to tax him for some mileage this afternoon.

What’s the weather like in the St. Louis area? The Doppler Radar shows a little green stuff just west of the city. Any chance this one gets delayed at some point?

I’ve got the TV on and tuned in so’s the tubes will warm up and I just saw a sort of a panoramic view of the field boxes, grandstands, bleachers, etc. I’m aware that it’s early, but no one will convince me that more that 10K seats are in contact with the backside of a baseball fan.

Doubles down on Carlson, this time vs a righty. Deservedly, make him cool off on his own, or get hot.

Even though the City Connect jerseys are okay, they can’t compete with the classic home jerseys we have in today. I think this is one of the best uniforms in all of sports

If Rickey played the Cardinals he’d have 25 SB’s in a weekend.

Herrera is a good backup at least with the stick, but he really gets exploited as an everyday catcher. I’ll be happy when Contreras is back.

The only thing I don’t like about today’s uni is that the front of the jersey reads “St. Louis” instead of “Cardinals”. They’re playing at HOME, for goodness sake. It’s bass ackwards…Whoever came up with that idea needs to check with the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers.

Me too Albert, Herrera for DH too. I’m about out of leash with the Carp / Fermin platoon.

JJ, I’m not sure he is a great DH either. He is a league average hitter. I think Herrera is suited well for getting a start or 2 a week as a backup catcher. Nothing wrong with that as a viable backup catcher is a needed for a full season.

Gorman has looked much better with his range and most of his DP turns, but he makes a good amount of throwing errors.

Edit: I just have recency bias as his stats show that is his 2nd throwing error versus 7 fielding this year.

OK. So I did a 45 mile bikeride with 3k ft vertical climbing this morning. Cleaned up went to Walgreens than picked up carryout @ Poor Richard’s. Chicken wing special. Hot 🔥sauce on the side and blue cheese dipping sauce. Caesars salad and cheese garlic bread. Large bottle of diet Pepsi purchased at Walgreens. Knocked that off no problem while watching the start of the Cardinals. Day going as planned. Now I have I nice hot cup of dunking doughnuts kurig cup coffee so I don’t nod out and miss the game. This poor defense had to stop.

KCB that sounds like a good morning. Hopefully you had a nice scenic bike ride.

GB for the 4-6-3 allows Gibson to escape the 3rd inning at 49 pitches with the Cardinals still trailing by only a run.

No it’s not. We are wasting the DH yet again.
