Hum, Marmol exits stage left and suddenly Goldschmidt has two hits including a homeowner and two rbis.

I think you are onto something, there.

Siani has a higher OPS than Goldschmidt

I thought Siani had a HR there.

    What an odd, odd game…

Siani is now hitting .250 with gold glove caliber defense. Meanwhile Donovan is hitting .212, Noot is hitting .204, Walker is in the minors, and Carlson is 0-15 for the year. I would say Siani is our best OF at the moment.

Yep, Siani is hot his last 25-ish PA’s. That oppo stroke is getting stronger too.

If nothing else Goldy is upping his trade value today. So is Arenado by not having his slugging % drop lower.

@1TD, if Siani can keep a 85-95 wRC+, I think he sticks in the bigs as a starting CF for a while with that glove. His glove more than makes up for him being below average with the stick. He can play small ball too so he can help manufacture runs in close games.

Romero gets it done in the 7th.

WTF, Romero with the punch out and shows some emotion. I like it. Maybe there’s something to the clubhouse issue being the lead dog.

Siani has a grand total of 97 PAs at the major league level. He is hitting better as he gets more playing time.

Well, he has 1 RBI in his career and almost tasted his 1st career tater, so he’ll have to really play some first rate small ball to be any Big League team’s primary CF’er.

It is hard for him to get RBIs when no one gets in base in front of him. RBI isn’t a great measure, but if you want to look at those type of numbers he has 12 runs which isn’t too bad.

Double digit hits again! Is this club starting to find its way in offense? The next few weeks will tell.

@bicyclemike hopefully so. There is no reason for this to be a below average offense with the players we have.

And for the first time tis series there will be a bottom of the 9th.

Siani currently has 0.4 fWAR. Among position players, that is tied for fourth on the team with Nootbaar. Higher are only Contreras, Arenado and Winn. Lower are… everybody else.

Gorman has been drawing a lot of walks lately.

This is bizzare. Burleson may be the best Cardinals lefty bat going right now. He had some really good ABs today. So they PH a dubious LH bat for him in Carlson against a RHP flame thrower. This decision-making is getting kind of weird, actually.

That was a dumb baserunning error. I’d send him down for it. Ridiculous.

Yeah, his runs scored are good enough for 35 games, Albert, but I’d guess he’ll have to reach base far better than .261 in order to cross HP enough times for him to find a role as a primary CF’er.

Man, had things worked out the same with the Donovan walk and Crawford fly out, we would have had an insurance run without the Gorman gaffe on the bases.

The way this season has gone, I have no confidence we will hang on and win this. Wait, Marmol got booted. That in itself increases our odds of winning quite a lot. 😀

They may outlaw that last pitch from Helsley.
