If the Redbirds can win this one they will have alot of momentum heading into the three game series with the Reds at Riverfront Stadium.

Of course, the Reds have beat the Dodgers two straight heading into the Sunday afternoon game. Here’s to hoping the Dodgers finally get a win on Sunday.

    On a meteorological note…..

The forecast is for rain tomorrow in St. Louis. As I type this about midnight the Doppler Radar shows a couple of different big piles of green stuff just getting into western Missouri. Hopefully everything will be out of the area and this game will be played tomorrow night.

And I’m keeping my fingers crossed the bad weather doesn’t postpone the Indianapolis 500.

Looks like we will be lucky to get tonight’s game in. Maybe someone needs to start a Burleson thread for entertainment.

Tonight is an ESPN game right? I don’t mind if it gets rained out then since I won’t be able to watch it in MLB TV.

Taking a head count; 21 of the 30 MLB franchises are essentially at (me maybe a game or two over) or below .500 right now.

Is this pretty typical in any given year?

Probably not, but we also have 1/5th (6 teams) of the league over .600. that cutoff misses the Braves and Brewers who are close to .600 as well.

The current Doppler Radar around noon EST shows a HUGE pile of green stuff all through Illinois and Indiana. Nothing really in the St. Louis area. Of course that can change later today and affect tonight’s game.

The Indianapolis 500 looks to be in a bad way right now.

I won’t see this one either since it is not in MLB.TV. Not a big deal for me to miss an occasional game on television. I like to dial in the KMOX broadcast now and then and have the game in the background while doing other things.

My favorite is riding the bike while listening to the game. But with this an evening game I won’t be out on the bike at that time.

Din-din today will be a couple ears of corn and some Hormel Beef tips along with an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew. And a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream. Then a cigar whilst I finish watching the Reds and Doyers.

The Reds have a 4-0 lead over the Doyers and Tojo Yamamoto after three innings.

I don’t want the Reds to have won three straight against the Doyers as we come into town. We are on a roll right now and we don’t need to face another team that’s hot on their home turf.

The Doyers look listless in this one. And the Indianapolis 500 is delayed. I assume it will be postponed.

Are the Cardinals headed towards being buyers at the deadline instead of sellers? No one would have considered that two weeks ago.

I am sure we would be chastised for being all doom and gloom over a two week losing streak in the midst of a long period of success. I guess it doesn’t work in reverse though.

BRef shows the Cubs as a wild card today and we’re two back. That’s in it. TBD.

I am also wondering if it might be a good idea to send Carlson down to Memphis so he can play everyday and try to get his stroke back to some kind of respectablity. I can’t see that he is serving any kind of meaningful purpose on the STL roster at the moment.

Looks like we’re the Hormel Bobsy-Twins today, Rat. My din-din will be Hormel extra beef chili with beans over a couple pieces of white toast, cottage cheese with ample pepper atop, tomato slices heavily laden with salt & pepper and a heaping bowl of Breyers chocolate peanut butter ice cream with whole milk, fresh banana slices and Planters dry roasted peanuts mingled in.

To be just 1 game back of these guys would truly be amazing. How quickly things can change. It was only a couple of weeks ago that these cubbies were flying high and we were mired in the Mariana Trench, with all of us thinking that the only thing we had to look forward to this summer was the upcoming Summer Olympics from the Gay Paree. Now let’s go out there tonight and royally kick some cubbie keester and never look back, en route to a magical season.

Long before the existence of even one WC team, I guess I was simply conditioned to cling to a mindset that maintained that a team had to attain a .500 W/L record before anything good can happen. I’m aware that things are a lot different nowadays, but that same mindset still persists. The Cardinals are getting close at only two games below sea level, but the fact remains that they’re still treading water. Hopefully, if the rain holds off, the Cardinals can inch one game closer to establishing themselves as a winning baseball team.

Which outfielder would you bring up to his replacement?

It seems like his place on the roster is to allow Scott & Walker to develop in the minors.

Let’s hope Oli doesn’t dick around with the lineup today. I’d rather Burleson be at 3. But at least have the same lineup as yesterday.

Carlson is sort of the default fourth outfielder as there is no one else. And at least he can play defense and run. He is sort of a “Michael Siani in April”. Maybe if he is forced to play more he will come around some. But it does not seem like he will ever be what he was thought of back in 2020.

I’m conflicted. Winning some games sure has been better than losing and all the negativism that accompanies it. But if we aren’t a threat to win the division at the trade deadline we should sell. No wildcard for me.

Posted this on the roster moves, but thought everyone here would want to see it too!

The whiz-kid will probably rest Burleson and have Carpenter at DH leading off. You can expect Winn to sit, with Crawford manned up at SS and hitting in the 5 slot…Nootbar collected 3 hits yesterday, so you just know Carlson will will be in RF and hitting in the 2 slot…Obviously, Pages will make up half of the battery. Look for him provide protection in the order hitting behind Crawford. The only thing missing will be our old friend, Manny Motter…

It’s strange–previously you claimed we should all defer to the judgment of the “professionals” in the “Cardinals brass” (when their decisions conveniently aligned with what you wanted). Remember when you questioned the “credentials” of other posters who disagreed? See: https://thecardinalnation.com/forums/users/shady/replies/?rs=professional

Now all of a sudden you’re questioning the roster and managerial decisions of those “professional” “experts” almost daily. What happened to your admonition that we should all defer to those with “professional baseball credentials” rather than your “cynical massage [sic] board poster’s take?”

Which outfielder would you bring up to his replacement?

Probably Koperniak. He is another LH OF but would only be needed as a PH anyway. The real purpose would be to give Carlson the chance to play everyday, which he needs and which he is not going to get in STL right now.

Or you could bring Fermin back up to be a RH bat off the bench. We would still have Donovan, Siani, Noot, and Burly to cover the OF.

Same lineup as yesterday. I’m digging it.
