STLcard, appreciate your input, but you have to agree almost every year he has gotten better. Then he has a very good 2021, and very good 2022 spring, and has pitched well when given a chance. So why the !?? would he not at least be getting an opportunity to pitch now, when he has clearly done better than 5-6 of the current pitchers on the roster..??

Reed and Willie, I am like many other fans very much in agreement with you. Lets only hope management gets there head out of their a–, and get Woodford back up where he belongs..!

It’s hard to say Woodford wouldn’t do well as a starter since he has had zero chances this year. Plus all his starts last year had been good ones. Plus whenever he pitched this year he’s done well.

This is really, really sad. Such an unprofessional display of management. Jake is a very easy going type guy and certainly hasn’t mouthed off to anyone; this is simply a fact that the FO and/or Mgr. are in denial on his pitching ability, which is much better than several guys on the current staff.

Palante did not look very good last night. His curveball wasn’t working very well and fastball location all over the place, maybe he and Jack should go down to AAA and work on them.

Agree Willie. He would be better off working it out in AAA. Bring up Woody in the meantime and get him some work.

Cards FO. If your not going to use his talents, do the right thing and let him play for another team…maybe the Marlins or Rays.!

I have followed the Cards for years and never, never has a player been so disrespected as Woodford has.
The FO needs to make a move, a professional move not a personal one; If your not going to give him a chance then trade, release or DFA the guy. He is way too good to be rotting in Memphis. There are several teams out there that could really use him; heck, the Cards could use him, if they just would.

Acquisitions needed? Good, trade Woodford so he can go help another team immediately!

Woodford has been sent all over the place this year and not given 1 start. Yet he is the most qualified pitcher to start and he has had success. Sure he gave up 3 runs his last outing, as he gets flown in and then is forced to pitch as soon as he lands, really! Ridiculous. Plus even with his last appearance his numbers are still far better than half the dam staff.

OH ya, Woodford needs to work on his slider… sure. bs. Maybe Verhagen should go to aaa and work on his changeup with McFadden and Wittgren.

Tell me again why Woodford isn’t pitching for the Cards..?

Liberatore needs more seasoning in AAA. McFarland needs to go down to AAA and find himself. Whitley ditto. Get Woodford back up for spot starts and relief. Maybe Rondon as well.
They can’t keep throwing these guys out on the mound when all they do is give up runs..!!

Totally agree with you Willie. Woodford is certainly getting hosed this year. I hope for his sake that he gets traded to another team that will utilize him; thats probably about 29 other teams.!

Somebody please tell me what the $!@&*!, these guys are doing on the MLB roster..???

    NickWittgren
    4.86 ERA 16 inngs. 20 hits. 9runs. 4 HB 7BB 7K’s 1.62whip .303avg. against.

    T.J.McFarland
    7.31 ERA 16 inngs 22hits. 13runs 1HB 6BB 9k’s 1.75whip .355 avg/ against.

what is going on in St.Louis? I thought Marmol said that roster/playing time would be directly related to performance on the field.? Maybe not…

Certainly agree with you stlcard25. His k’s are up for sure. He was the best option out of spring, but Hicks got the call..wonder why? He needs to get 3-4 starts under his belt, no reason he can’t pick up where he left off last Sept.!

Blingboy. saying Woodford got hit around pretty good yesterday is a very misleading statement… did you watch the game? I did. He actually pitched ok. First inning error on a tailor made dbl play ball that extended him two more batters. I agree 70 pitches in 3 innings is not good, but without the error he would have gone at least 4, maybe 5. He gave up 1 earned run, and struck out 3.! He has done quite well in the show with his starts. He is the logical choice to give some opportunities to start.

Looks like its time for the double switch!
McFarland or Whitgren and Walsh go to AAA, and get Woodford and Whitley back up!

    Lee

OK, well that is a poorly written contract for the team. so he just is terrible and nothing they can do about it, hogwash!

    Lee

Or better yet… Get Woodford some starts in the 5th position for Hicks, put Hicks in pen as closer or set up man. and stick with the dbl switch.! Sorry for the 3 comments in a row, just had some time to kill.

no reason to stretch out Woodford for starting role, as Marmol seems determined to stick with Hicks..?
Just not sure starting is his best position. He was great in the pen.! Plus they have Libby coming up from AAA at some point who could start…

This should be a no brain decision.

Maybe Schildt could give Woodford some insight on philosophical views?!
