Very nice missing Jimi Hendricks in this series. But, he’s not the same hurler who our Cards are used to seeing totally dominating them. He’s just a shell of his former self…..but still a shell I won’t mind not seeing. You gotta be thinking “sweep”…….but don’t you think that in every series.

Speaking of sweep…..we better not gloat too much over the sweep of the Padres. Remember we have to go to San Diego the 2nd to last week of the year. Three in San Diego and then three in Dodger Stadium in late September. The Padres might be interested in revenge and those could be very significant games. Guess time will tell.

Din-din today is a Ribeye steak in the air fryer, a baked potato, Mt. Dew, and a big piece of Cookies n’ Cream pie. Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuning in to the Angels and Yankees this afternoon from New York.

Anyone have a good app on a firestick for baseball? That’s gonna be my only way of watching a game 0.75 miles away…. unless I go grab wings and a cold one of course, which doesn’t sound like an awful idea either!

FYI here…….Matt Carpenter just hit his 3rd homerun for the Yankees leading off the bottom of the 1st against the Angels.

Good for Matt Carpenter. May he have a comeback worthy of the name.

Let’s hope some of our lower order batsmen are inspired to do the same. Winning is fun. Rah Cardinals!

Din-din tonight was codfish filet sauteed in butter, boiled potatoes and ratatouille, followed by a thick slice of banana bread. All washed down with iced tea.

I had a very vivid dream last night of Pez eclipsing the ivy. Thompson was undefeated….. let’s call this one 6-4 Birds shall we? I’ll tell you one thing remaining on my bucket list…..having din-din at Cardinal In France’s domicile in the south of France. And it’s not for the spectacular scenery, but rather for the supreme supper. Rat’s din-din today wasn’t exactly chopped liver too. Rat is kind of the king of desserts.

6-4? I am pretty sure predicting only a paltry 2 run margin over the Chubs is a felony. We will exterminate them like the vermin they are. In a sportsmanlike way of course.

Tonight is the Queen Mother of din-dins at Casa Bling. Schweineschnitzel fried in clarified butter, smashed red new potatoes, gravy, pickled red cabbage slaw. Warm peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream for desert.

bling…..i LUV Schweineschnitzel. When I go to the German restaurant down in Jasper I usually get it. Along with their German Fries and Green Beans.

The weather looks all clear tonight at Wrigley. Memphis, however, might be a different story.

You’re all right, Rat. There used to be a pair of restaurants in south St. Louis, The Bavarian Inn and The Black Forest, that had great schnitzel and fixins. They are long gone.

I like the lineup. We can do some damage with that, especially if NA is heating up.

I assume Gorman is still under the weather? If we could toss him in the lineup instead of Pujols we might be in high cotton.

Yes, I’d like to see a little more of this Gorman fellow in action. Is he ailing?

Well the wifey is a big hockey fan and she wants to hit a local brew pub for the Av’s playoff game tonight. I will tag along so no Redbirds for me. This place has BBQ fare, so I will enjoy some good BBQ for din-din, and a craft brewskie or two. Maybe I can persuade the powers that be to put the Cardinal-Cub tilt on one of the televisions located in a far corner of the place where no one is sitting, if there is a place like that.

Two cub batters….two extras….. Contreras with the 2-run blow to left and just like that it’s 2-0 Bad Guys with nary an out in the bottom of the 1st.

Very sweet finally seeing Cranny weigh in with a din-din. I knew he’d eventually come around. I had bear last fall and it wasn’t half bad.

Schwindel joins the extra base hit parade with a ringing one out double to right.

And the 2 is all the cubbies register in the 1st.

Top of 2. Thompson toeing the Chicago rubber this evening.

    Pez strikes out looking.

    Donovan walks.

Albert grounds it up the middle where Madrigal was shading him…..gloves it, but is too far from the 2nd base bag to step on it, so he’ll have to just get the one out at 1st……the shift cost them on this occasion….Donovan now in scoring position.

Yadi grounds out to Madrigal at 2nd.

Pez with a very nice leaping catch on the track in left with 2 out and a man on 1st, to keep the cubbies in check in the 2nd.

That schnitzel was glorious. The cobbler is still in the oven. Goldy and NA both hot at the same time could be fun.
