May 15, 2022 at 9:25 am #185239Here is hoping for the record win!
May 15, 2022 at 11:05 am #185244I assume Pujols will be in the lineup against Rodon?
Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for this one. However, Whitey is having somewhat of a hard time walking. This started yesterday. She is walking like something is bothering her. She had the IVDD almost two years ago. Fingers are crossed for my best buddy in the whole world. And I am somewhat under the weather myself. Runny nose, sneezing, don’t feel good.
Anyway, din-din today will be a New York Strip Steak in the air fryer, some jumbo crinkle cut french fries, Lay’s bar-b-q potato chips, a Mt. Dew, and the last piece of Strawberry pie from the Amish restaurant. All this at the start of the Reds/Pirates game from Forbes Field. The cigars will be saved for later tonight.

May 15, 2022 at 11:10 am #185245Get Donovan as many AB’s as possible. That guy is a player. Hell, bat him 2nd.
May 15, 2022 at 11:28 am #185247When we were doing our prospect rankings last winter I mentioned that I thought Donovan would be our next Edman and I still think that. He needs to play.
Speaking of Edman, the Cardinals seem determined to keep him at 2B.
For lunch today I am going with a grilled cheese sandwich that has cheddar cheese inside some toasted jalapeno bread, some black pepper krinkle chips, sun chips, red grapes, banana, and a diet mountain dew.
May 15, 2022 at 11:39 am #185248I could not agree more with your assessment of Donovan. I thought he was just a guy until his recent call up but it’s clear he’s a major leaguer and maybe even a good one. Plate discipline, arm, swing, decent speed, everything about him has impressed the heck out of me thus far. I’ve become a huge BD guy and think he needs to play every day.
May 15, 2022 at 12:13 pm #185250I agree with the general feeling about Donovan. He’s impressed me so far and I’m prepared to keep him at short if the powers that be think Edman is best at 2nd.
I’m just about to sit down to meatloaf, baked potatoes slathered in butter, and corn. We’ll top it off with a nice piece of chocolate cake from the local bakery.

ParticipantWell I have liked Donovan since spring but like with yepez, I’ll wait til they have a lot more plate appearances before I think they are the answers we are all looking for. Some people and coaches for that matter always jump on things before they are proven. There is still some work to do with the bullpen as well. So hopefully they don’t lose sight of that

ParticipantWhat happened to Marmols quote saying “ your performance will dictate who plays ..? Really! Woodford has the 4th best era on the team and he gets demote..!
May 15, 2022 at 2:06 pm #1852551982 willie
ParticipantYea it’s tragic what is happening with Woodford. They keep McFarland who is horrible this season. I’d rather have naughton or Woodford over him. Some bad decision making going on. Of course if they are t going to use Woodford up here, may be for the best. He will get work down there
May 15, 2022 at 2:55 pm #185259Rat, I’m wishing the best for Whitey. Good luck.
Donovan’s performance is rewarded with some pine time. Perfect. Never sit a hot bat.
I think Woody’s problem may be philosophical differences. It is not a rational move based upon on field performance, so it must be something else.
May 15, 2022 at 3:18 pm #185260I wonder how many times this has happened in the history of baseball?
The Reds did not allow a hit today – and Pittsburgh won 1-0. The Pirates did not get a hit but they won the game 1-0.
And thanks bling, fingers are crossed. Acts 3:16 is our battle cry – Faith in the name of Jesus heals.

May 15, 2022 at 3:25 pm #185261The Doppler Radar shows some green stuff moving into the St. Louis area. So did the Weather Channel. The forecast says a 70% chance of rain today in St. Louis. Hope this game is played. It appears it might be past St. Louis very soon, possibly heading towards us here in SW Indiana.

MrperkinsParticipantRat–I’m proud to say I actually remembered the year and final score of a truly remarkable game. 1990 New York Yankees win 4-0 despite being no hit
May 15, 2022 at 4:42 pm #185266You are close, Mr. Perkins. The Yankees lost to the WhiteSox 4-0. Here’s the boxscore.
May 15, 2022 at 6:11 pm #185268I wasn’t aware Arenado had a hip problem last year that he fixed with flexibility in the off-season. Wonder why they couldn’t tell us about that on any of the Bally’s broadcasts.
I prefer watching the Cardinals on neutral stations like ESPN where I can get honest information. They also focus on the game. Dan often diverts his analyst’s attention with endless stats and repetitive feel good stories.
May 15, 2022 at 6:15 pm #185269Waino breezes thru the 1st without a blemish, having used a mere 11 pitches and whiffing 2.
May 15, 2022 at 6:16 pm #185270This is the last meeting between the 2 teams. It’ll be 4-3 or 3-4 for the season.
May 15, 2022 at 6:22 pm #185271Lee
ParticipantMaybe Schildt could give Woodford some insight on philosophical views?!
May 15, 2022 at 6:29 pm #185272Bottom of 1. Cards facing an extremely tough hombre this evening in the person of Carlos Rodon.
Edman grounds it into right field for a leadoff base hit.
Goldy….thar she blows! Whacked deep to left and long long gone…….2-0 Good Guys and that’s how you like to start a baseball game. That was Rondon’s first homer allowed this year…. hopefully the Cards will slap a couple more dingers onto his ’22 HR resume here tonight.
Arenado hit high and deep to left!…..but Gonzalez appears to have it in his crosshairs and he’ll have it right at the edge of the track for the out.
Pez …..base hit to right.
Albert lines a shot to left and down into the corner…..Pez to 3rd and Albert has himself a double.
Yadi lofts a soft single to center…..in trots Pez…..here comes Albert and he’ll beat the throw…..but Belt’s throw down to 2nd will nail the ever-anxious Yadi, but 2 more Birds are in making it 4-0.
Carlson strikes out.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGame of the world tonight, as Rooney calls it. Roll out the legacy lineup and SP, good for the brand.
It’s worked so far, 4-0. Sosa over Donovan with a LH starter is understandable.
May 15, 2022 at 6:40 pm #185274Waino surrenders only a free pass in the 2nd. He’s at 31 pitches now in a 4-0 Cardinal ballgame.
