By ERA looks like we have a chance in this game.

I have had a soft spot for Thompson ever since they pitched him into the wood chipper head first in 2021. Before the lost 2020 season, he had 15 pro innings in A ball. Then 2021 starts and he’s thrown into the AAA rotation, to be butalized all year. Otganizational need can be heartless. But he answered the bell when they called his name. Its good to see him having some success lately. Maybe he can position himself at the top of the laundry list for next year.

    Agreed BB.

Maybe he will get sorted and be good enough to make the rotation next season.

I sure would like to see Arenado get to 30 homeruns and 100 rbi’s on the season. It would make his 2023 Strat-O-Matic card alot better. Goldy won’t come close this year. Norman has a chance at 30 homeruns.

Din-din today was a ribeye steak in the air fryer, a couple ears of corn, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and some Prairie Farms French Vanilla ice cream. Going to have the cigars for later tonight when me and Whitey Herdog are on the couch watching the game.

Oh, and the Jasper Wildcats won over the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs last night in Jasper. The final was 56-34 Jasper. Next week Jasper is on the road down in Evansville to take on the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats.

Taking a gander at the early out-of-town scoreboard today:

The Cubs lose again. Arizona comes away with a 3-2 win in ten innings at Wrigley.

Milwaukee and the Yankees are 2-2 in the 5th at Yankee Stadium.

The Cardinals and Reds are scoreless in the top of the 1st at Riverfront Stadium.

And last night the Giants trailed 4-0 in the 6th against Colorado at Candlestick Park. But they hit back-to-back-to-back homeruns and then eventually won the game 9-8 over the Rockies. That game might propel them into a hot streak.

Tie game. Thompson just gave up a run throwing a meatball. 2nd one hes thrown so far. We’ve had base runners every inning so far but only 1 rbi. Not getting the ribbie!

Dang 3 run inning. Cincy double every other batter. Need to get some guys in to score.

I continue to think of the petty and disgraceful manner in which Cardinal leadership pointed their fingers at Contreras in an attempt to divert the focus away from themselves for their countless failures, but they sure can’t point any fingers at his bat.

I didn’t like his bat too much when it mattered. We will have to wait until next year, then see what we think.

    “When it mattered”
We were in the cellar and 10 games back before May got here. Don’t blink or you missed it.

It hasn’t mattered since early May.

I’d also say that when standing in the box it might be a little difficult to focus at a time when your manager and his boss are publicly proclaiming that you’re the primary reason for the team’s failures. I say he’s done a nice job not only with the bat, but also with his composure and temperament in the sense that a lot of guys would have suggested stepping outside onto the sidewalk and discussing the matter…

From what I’ve seen so far from Winn when he’s manned up at SS, I’d have to guess that he’s never seen an oven mitt…And his right arm might be illegal to conceal in some states.

No question he can sling it across the IF. Looks to have cross hair sort of accuracy too. At any rate, he should be fun to watch when and if he begins to hit a little bit.

The Reds got severely burned on that challenge. Looked to me like an entirely clean play at 2B. I guess from this point forward, fans should expect to pay top dollar to watch girl’s HS softball games.

We need to tone down our play. We are about to catch the Pirates and Detroit, and I suspect the Mets are close too. Call Motter’s agent and get him back here.

The umps might have cost the Reds this game. Two strike threes were called on pitches that were clearly high. The Reds manager and a player got tossed as a result. Then the questionable call on the DP at 2nd in the 9th.

At least the Cubs lost again…..

What’s it going to take to get rid of Verhagen, Lawrence, Naile etc? I don’t care about what they did today. It’s their body of work that I care about.

If they stop giving them money they’ll probably just quit.
