I do yes. I think Mo has been in Jakes corner since day 1. But not Ollie or Maddux.
Mad is gone, maybe he will get more of an opportunity this year…? If not he should be traded to a team that will give him the opportunity, and I’m sure there are plenty that would. All the Cards are doing
is holding him back from advancing his career.!Mr Reed, your post on the wrong starters mid season is on target. They gave starts to guys who shouldn’t have been starting.. and left out the one guy who has already proven effective starting! Makes you scratch your head about it, but seems like we are beating a dead horse: this is not new, we have been posting about it since April. Seems either the FO or Marmol don’t like Woodfords stuff; which is very concerning with the numbers he put up last year. Some say that there is friction between them.. I don’t think so.
Some say this, some say that…bottom line is when a guy is performing at a high level you play him: you don’t shuttle him back and forth to aaa. They have simply mis managed him but are to cowardly to admit it.JJ. certainly agree with you. Jack is just too injury prone and I don’t remember Woody ever being injured.!
Good post jj. They need to give Thompson and Woodford more innings during the season… I am confident they both will do well and then they become additional options in the post season. They had some of the best stats on the team.
ERA. Thompson @ 2.08. Woodford @ 2.23
WHIP Thompson @ 0.98. Woodford @ 1.12
Thompson – 34 inngs. 8 runs allowed
Woodford – 48 inngs. 12 runs allowed.
These guys need to be regular in appearances!Great post Lee! Totally agree, either let the kid work or trade ’em. He is just too good to be on the shuttle back and forth to Memphis.

Looks good Stlcard25.!!
I think it would be between Stratton and Woodford, and personally I would sit Stratton because his
BB rate, Avg, ERA and WHIP are all higher.Lee, if they carry 13 that looks spot on.
If only 12, who do you all think would come off.?September 19, 2022 at 6:21 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 148 thread – Sunday, Sept. 18 vs. Reds #201408That Woodford kid just keeps getting the job done, looked very much in control again Sunday.
2 2/3 inngs, 1 h, 3 k’s, 0 walks 0 runs. Exactly what you want from a mid-relief guy!
He has turned into a nice asset for the Cards.September 16, 2022 at 8:32 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 145 thread – Friday, Sept. 16 vs. Reds #200859Funny.
September 16, 2022 at 6:31 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 145 thread – Friday, Sept. 16 vs. Reds #200848Good points Lee. Also, this year Woody has 21 appearances and in 15 of them he allowed ZERO runs!
I think he actually has figured out his pitch combination with the slider, Hi heat and sinker.Woodford looked very sharp. went 1 2/3, with 1h, 2ks, 0 r, 0 bb.
Now back home to get the Brewers. Hope we can win the series, a sweep would be nice.!
Keep giving Woody chances, his stuff looks very solid.August 10, 2022 at 9:50 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 109 thread – Tuesday, August 9 at Rockies #194852Libby is not consistent yet. He will be, but not now.
verhagen will certainly be back. he will get every opportunity to compete, mostly because
of 3 mil! but will fizzle out early or/and get hurt again. As well as Woody has been pitching, it is certainly possible he is called up.
I got $100 he gets called up in the next 2 days….Woodford is schedule to pitch Thursday/Friday, this would be a perfect to get him up and Thompson.
Get Hudson down to work on a rhythm, Packy down just ’cause he should be, and simply release McFarland.
But, if I had to guess, Marmol will do nothing. Par for the year.August 10, 2022 at 6:30 am in reply to: 2022 Cardinals MLB Game 109 thread – Tuesday, August 9 at Rockies #194833Totally agree with you on this ZTR. Marmol has got to realize that during the season is not the time to try and figure things out for a pitcher. They had no problem sending Woody down, for no reason as he was pitching very well. Yet, all these other pitchers who struggle, he thinks they can work it out..Really!
Hudson should go to AAA and find a rhythm, Naughton needs go to AAA and stay, McFarland needs to simply be let go.!
——————————————–Mikolas, Quintana, Hudson for the series.
Would love to see Pallante swapped out for Hudson and then Woodford up and Hudson to Memphis while he gets back on track.
I think Hudson will come around but would rather see him work things out at AAA – if that is possible…don’t know of they can send him down without his permission at this point or not.
I guess Woodford was traded by now…
Understand Brian, but Woodford is not really a minor league player, he has proven MLB ready over the past two seasons, its just that the Cards have him stuck in AAA. I don’t really care about leverage, they should just do the right thing: If they don’t like him anymore, which seems obvious, then let him go and find a team that does like him. (shouldn’t be too hard.) The 7-year relationship they have had deserves better treatment.
Agree with you bling.
Hope he gets a shot or gets moved.Lee, the FO is never wrong. just ask them.
LOL
There is no way Woodford shouldn’t be up right now. McFarland being up right now does not help the team. Woodford had one bad recent start in AAA, (actually got hosed by the Ump.), but also had two shutout games.
Woodfords line in July.

The host claims that management sent Woodford down to work on slider in order to go deeper into games.? Not sure if this was from the FO or manager.
mmmm… lets look at Woodfords starts from last year.
7/19. 5.2IP, 1R, 80 pitches
7/24. 5.0IP, 3R, 88 pitches
7/31. 3.0IP, 5R, 72 pitches
9/4. 5.1IP, 0R, 74 pitches. this one early relief of KK.
9/9. 4.0IP, 1R, 66 pitches
9/14. 4.0IP, 2R, 61 pitches
9/21. 5.0IP, 0R, 84 pitches
9/26. 5.1IP, 2R, 83 pitches
10/3. 5.0IP, 3R, 76 pitches
So after reading this, Woodford was pulled way before he had to be most every time out, probably 1or2 it was justified. I have followed Woodford through the system, and him throwing 100 pitches was always the norm. As a starting pitcher it is given that 100 pitches is the norm.
So I call BS on the entire treatment of him this season. Hard to say its not Marmol, as last year with the same front office and Schildt, he got the opportunity to succeed, which he did!
This if looks very bad on the Cardinals and Marmol. PLease, please trade this kid so he can go play the game he loves and help another team win.!Perfect timing to get Woody back up and get him some starts. There is absolutely no reason not to get him up there. I did watch his last game at Memphis, 4 runs and 3 bbs, but I really question the umpire, he was missing calls in and out: vs. LH batters he set up way left of the catcher, towards the hitter, so a ball on the outside corner he couldn’t see… This should be addressed with the umpires Assocation, it really shouldn’t happen at this level. And it happened and least 5-6 times. with the proper calls his outing is much better.
