Nothing Fernandez or Naile hás done would make them targets for removal. Walsh or Whitley either if healthy. Will the Cards eat VerHagen’s money?

Definitely don’t want to drop Nootbaar. He’s a 0.4 WAR player. Not amazing, but, well, better than replacement. Just 24 years old. He seems like a keeper to me. I’d love to know more about the health of Walsh and Whitley. Whitley’s slide surprised me. I’d prefer to keep Fernandez. Romine goes when Yadi returns, I think.

We’ll get more clarity after the trade deadline. Some form of package of multiple players for one better player, in part to clear roster space?

Not sure where reports on the day’s minor league games go these days. But so far, 6 shutout innings from Woodford. Two starts ago he had 5. Now, it was 4 runs in 4 innings in the appearance between the two. But I wonder if he might return before long.

Woodford is now stretched out and ready to go. Bags packed. Awaiting long overdue call.

Anyone know why Burleson wasn’t in the lineup for Memphis last night?

You will find a thread for all the minor league action each week. We got away from daily minor league threads as it proved to be too many threads clogging the board and pushing other topics off the first page.

Here is the this week’s thread.

I like Guerrero and Dominguez getting promoted to Palm Beach.

Any updates on Walsh? I was hoping he’d be in our bullpen by now. Walsh has been out nearly 2 months.

Good question on Burleson. Where is he? Multi game rest? Hurt? Part of a trade?

Get Woodford up. He should have already been recalled.!

My guess is that Burlson is in DC on the táxi squad in case Carlson or O’Neil get traded

I find it interesting when all of these publications rank the Cardinal farm system middle of the pack yet the system is apparently so stacked we can trade for any superstar we want to. Someone needs to reevaluate their ranking calculations.

Hás anyone seen SPFD catcher Mark Raposo play? Does he have real catcher skills? I am assuming the Cards think só. 2nd year and already at AA and OPSing .850+. Could be a hidden gem among the 2020 FA signings.

He seems to hit the ball with authority frequently and I always assumed he was a defensive first guy.

There is no way Woodford shouldn’t be up right now. McFarland being up right now does not help the team. Woodford had one bad recent start in AAA, (actually got hosed by the Ump.), but also had two shutout games.

Right on CardsFan. Its time to play the best guys and Woodford is certainly one of them. Time to get rid of petty feelings and make the team as good as possible for a second half run.
Marmol has always preached the best players will play..ok..? Actually I think its the best players that he likes will play, regardless of actual stats.

Baez hits first homer this year. Vargas hits 2 for DSL Cards. Anyelo Encarnacion has unusual stats. 24 runs scored, 19 hits, obp of .506

My understanding was that Baez is a pure CF yet I notice Cho (.460 OBP) is getting the starts in CF when both are in the lineup. Is Cho that good defensively?

Not sure about Cho’s defense, but I meant to note that Baez has 4 stolen bases in 4 games.

Jordan Walker was the left fielder last night for Springfield. Do we know if he has a right field arm?

Walker will be tried in all three OF spots. His arm is strong. In the TCN Prospect Guide, we rate it as 55.

I had only saw Cho play in a couple of games before he was hurt in spring training. I will be seeing the FCL team in a few weeks and should be able to get a better reading then.

Baez has a lot of lost time to make up. Hoping he keeps the pedal down.

Walker is just 20 y.o. and has plenty of time to learn an OF position. His 3B defense is questionable at best (18 errors in 189 chances). He’s blocked by Arenado anyway. I, plus many others have mentioned before that he should move to the OF. Bader was thought to be the CF into the future, his spot say 2 years away becomes an opening. Walker just has to work his a** off to become a dependable corner OFer.

No amount of work can turn left field arm into anything else, which is why I’ve been wondering how his arm will play in outfield. We will be finding out now that he has been moved out there.
