Another “just one of those days” for Hudson. This is happening too often with him, better out of the pen. This would be a great time to give Woodford a couple starts… surely won’t be any worse than Hudson or Libby! If he is, then fine the metrics are right; but if he does well, which I think he will, then the metrics dont mean a thing.

To set the record straight, I know and speak with Woodford regularly. I have asked the question about any issues with MO or OM and he has none. There have not been any altercations between them: this is all made up speculation to try and find a reason he is not being utilized. As much as I would like him it St. Louis, I hope he goes to another team so he can play the game he loves.

Here is another little tid bit I saw the other day for all you nay sayers out there.
When requiring a min. of 8 inngs. pitcher this season, Woodford has the following top 10 ranks.
    1) ERA #6
    2) WHIP #8
    3) BB #6
    4) Avg.against #9

Although, these are not eye popping, they certainly are deserving of a firm spot in the pen at min.

gscottar. So your saying middle relief is not important..? interesting? I think 99% of the fans and management would disagree with you on that one. Middle relief not only keeps you in games, but it can save a bullpen as well. The fact it, OM has mismanaged his pen pieces. If they have the pitchers in the pen, that should be I think the numbers get much better. Also, saying a swingman/#5 starter in not a determining factor in winning a world series is very ignorant. Making the playoffs is just as important as winning in the playoffs and you don’t get there without a solid pen/rotation. Of course you want to win a world series, thats the ultimate goal, but you have to get there first.
And No, Woodford isn’t the second coming of Nolan Ryan or Degrom, that is just a silly comparison…but he is a solid piece of the puzzle or what you call a “Team”.!

Anybody else hear the rumor that the Mets are interested in Woodford.?
I would hate to see him go, but a trade is probably best for him.

Understood, Thx Brian, but at the current rate with McF, Witt and VerH, we won’t be playing past the regular season!!

Bottomline the FO and OM have given Woodford the shaft this year. The slider movement story is just that, a story. The movement is there, its just where it starts and finishes is off a little, but is a quick fix. Woodford should be the long guy right now. Verhagen just makes too many mistakes, as does Witt and McF. Hicks should be another set up guy and Woodford the long guy.
The best pen right now would be…
    Helsley
    Gio
    Cabby
    Pallante
    Thompson
    Woodford
    VerH.
    Hicks when ready, otherwise Oviedo.
    AAA -> Witt,McF,Whitley, Packy.
