We outhit to Rockies 15-14 and win only one of four games. That is the sign of a club going nowhere fast.
I don’t understand the adoration for Goldy. He was an MVP top 5 guy for 5 or 6 seasons, until a year BEFORE he came to St. L. Now, much lower.
Also, he will be 34 in two months. He will probably want to be in the DH league soon, in order to extend his career.Those might be crappy teams, but they are not chopped liver. If we don’t take a lead into the 8th inning, our strength as a club is nullified.

I see the point about Arenado opting out if Goldy is traded. I’m just worried if they don’t get another solid starting pitcher soon, this club will not be able to pull out of this swoon. Won’t he opt out if we stink up the joint to high heaven?
By just about any metric, Goldschmidt’s best season was 2015. His decline since then has been pretty steady. One could argue that he might plateau at the present level for a season or two. You could just as easily argue that his decline will continue, at a fast or slow pace.
I don’t see much risk in trading him for pitching. There’s bound to be a GM that is desperate for offense that thinks Goldy has another year or two in the tank, if only he had the right batting coach, HIS batting coach, lol.If Carp had bunted O’Neill over, he would have scored on the subsequent play. Does Carp not know how to bunt?
As much as I am frustrated with Carp’s paltry BA, what few hits he does have have been big RBI producers

If you win 62 games, you lose 100, assuming no rainouts that aren’t made up. What’s the point in rushing anybody back from injury if the club isn’t going anywhere?

Also, when your starters have just pitched a bunch of quality starts in quick succession, you are due for for a few not so quality starts. I hope we can defy that a bit longer, but it will be a moot point if we don’t start hitting.
If he can keep his pitch count reasonably low, they might let him pitch five innings, so he gets the win. Certainly no more than 65 or 70 pitches
It is Shildt not Schildt and Carlos is the closer so he is going to pitch in these situations. It was not bone-headed, Carlos just didn’t do the job that he is paid to do.
That is circular logic. CMart is the closer because Shildt made him the closer. And Shildt can unmake any time he wants to.
Some posters are saying that Shildt is paralyzed by fear that if he changes closers during the playoffs, and it doesn’t work out, he will get fired. That is very unlikely, but once that fear takes over you can’t think logicallyMike schildt is a loser. Guys got no backbone

That’s not venting. He is an average manager on a club with very good starting pitching. He’s way out of his league in the playoffs
