Baltimore is having a monster of a great day, as they lead Cleveland 17-3 in the 8th, plus we took Brandon Waddell off their hands. Does it get any better?
Everybody needs to be patient and give the Waddell pickup time to kick in. Waddell might be somebody’s table scraps, but that somebody is the Orioles. Mo’s got this.
Always the voice of reason…. patience is indeed called for, Euro Dandy. Who knows, maybe “Wild” Waddell is the perfect stopgap until Flaherty, Hudson, Hicks, Mikolas and Kim return to action.
And Waddell was pitcher of the week back in 2018 for the Indianapolis Indians. Maybe he can recapture some of that magic and bring it to the Cardinals. Ahhh I can see it now. He goes into the 6th inning with a 2-0 lead… gives up his 2nd hit of the game… he’s under 30, so Schildt pulls him brings in Ponce who gives up the game tying homer. But not to worry because next inning we have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 out and Schildt looks to the bench for that player to get that big hit. Who will it be? It’s Carp. Carp looks at the first pitch right down the middle, swings at the next pitch in the dirt, fowls of a few and then with all his might swings at the next pitch pulling it to the right where the ss awaits for the easy 6-3 putout.
On a good note, the Giants once again lead the Cubs. It’s 2-1 heading to the last of the 2nd. Our old buddy Patrick W. Tooth has homered again for the Cubs. Maybe the Giants can sweep the Cubs, and then the Padres can sweep the Cubs also. Looks like we will all be looking up at Milwaukee in the very near future.
Cards could sure use the day off tomorrow. And my din-din today was chicken on the grill with some Bush’s Onion Baked Beans and a bowl of homemade ice cream. Yum yum……

It is a little early in the season for scoreboard watching, with one caveat. If you think both wild cards will come out of the NL West, then we gotta win the division to advance.
As much as I am frustrated with Carp’s paltry BA, what few hits he does have have been big RBI producers
Holy cow! I need to take the dog for a walk more often. I leave it is 7-0. Now it is 7-5 with bases loaded and no out!
Well, the Redbirds tie the game. Did not think that could happen the way the offense has been going. Great job to get back in the game!
It’s a brand new game. It’s almost like the Cardinals as a team said enough is enough. Hopefully this momentum and new found energy carries over to our bullpen.
A clutch hit from Carp producing runs, a big 2 out hit from one of our star players, and a shutdown inning from our bullpen to keep it tied . That is just crazy. What’s next? The Cardinals ride that momentum and push thru and battle to take the lead.
On more than a few occasions this year.. we have had the chance late to produce that big hit or make that big pitch and failed. We have done both this game. Let’s get one more big hit and give Reyes a chance at the save.
At least we have the right batters coming up each of who can tie it with one swing. Let’s finish with a back to back walk off.
Winker can’t hit the sinker….but he sure whallops everything else. We need to start feeding Winker a steady diet of sinkers….bit too late in this miserable series though.
Pathetic last 3 ABs to end the game to strand the tying and winning runners in scoring position. Sosa refused to take a walk on about 3 different pitches. Then Rondon struck out on what would’ve been ball 4, which was a bouncer about 2 feet out of the strike zone to end the game. Fitting end for this current team. They can’t even trip over each other without falling down first.
While the bottom of the ninth didn’t end well, I’m still trying to understand hanging a curve ball on an 0-2 pitch to a guy that has already gone yard two times in the game in the top half of the frame. The player on the mound has a 100 MPH heater. Maybe try blasting it past him with your best pitch? I’m sure the pitch selection is coming from the dugout. They should be taking the heat for that huge mistake.
Good on them coming back to tie it, but they have to find a way to win that one with runners on second and third and no one out. Completely unacceptable not to at least tie that game. Again blame the players (two rookies and one that hasn’t been a full time player for long) for not executing, but the manager needs to shoulder his fair share of responsibility for that debacle to end the game as well.
