Rats, if that trade was truly offered and we rejected it the answer about regret would be pretty obvious!

Gorman currently hitting 185 with one home run! That is not a MOTO bat! So many on here continue to think he should be getting a whole year to prove himself! He has already proven himself! I also think he should get a ton of at bats this year, in Memphis

I have a great idea, let’s send out second best average hitter (Saggese) down so we can see Gorman and Walker flail away even more!

So we have two 300 hitters (Donovan and Saggese) and we send one down to Memphis! When I was coaching and granted it was not near mlb levels I used to always tell the kids if you hit we will find a place for you! Obviously this doesn’t apply to the Cardinals! We would rather see Gorman and Walker play every day and see which can be the first to go under 200! Maybe we should play Saggese at 2nd Donovan in left and let Gorman and Walker DH against righties and lefties! Whole thing makes zero sense to me!

Our manager might want to quit bringing in Fernandez late in close games!

Move on to trying to put winning players on the field! Continuing to throw the same players out there year after year knowing they can’t produce is insanity IMO! We keep talking on this forum about a reset! How? Still have the same owner, same GM, same manager and for the most part the same players! This lineup looks remarkably similar to last years and the year before! Okay let’s give them another year! We have some players I think we can build around
Nootbar, Scott, Winn, Donovan, Werherholt, Saggese, maybe Davis!

If this group ends up being as bad as they could be (4th or 5th with 90+ losses)
I dog gone sure hope we don’t put Gorman and Walker and Burleson Contreras and Others back out there in 2026 and say “ we are gonna give them this year to see what they can do” We have done that already!

If you want to use plate appearances it is still 34% which is an unsustainable rate! Listen I hope Gorman becomes the greatest power hitter of his generation and hits 45 homers a year, but that is unlikely at best to happen! Even Reggie Jackson who is the greatest K’er ever IMO only struck out 24% of the time using PA! Sure give him another year! By that time his PA will be pushing 1500! If he is still K’ing at an over 30% rate and hitting less than 220 lets move on!

Forsch31, as of today Gorman has 1081 at bats and has struck out 410 times! That is 37.9 % of the time!

What all 4 of these players have in common is tbey are examples of a failed organization when it comes to finding and developing players! Gorman’s ceiling is only higher to you because you want it to be! When we start winning again none of these 4 players will be a part of it IMO!

LACard, can you name one player, just one, who started his career with 1100 at bats who Struck out 38% of the time and was batting 222, who suddenly became a middle of the order semi star guy! I don’t think you can because they don’t exist!

So IMO Baker is a total unknown! He has batted in mlb only 150 times! Don’t even know why he would be on this list?

Walker, has only batted 650 times! His OPS is about tbe same as Gorman, but Gorman has over 450 more plate appearances! I don’t like Walker but he should have more rope than Gorman!

Burleson is more comparable to Gorman than the other IMO because he has close to 1000 at bats! Yes his OPS is lower but so is his K rate! He makes contact! He will always hit for a higher avg than Gorman!

So in conclusion I don’t think any of these 4 will ever bat 3,4 or 5 for a championship level contender! I think Burleson might bat 2 or 6 or 7 for one! The one I’m most sure about is Gorman! Unless he just wakes up one day and becomes a totally different guy he is not gonna ever be a middle of the order bat!

I just don’t get the fascination of Nolan Gorman as a middle of the lineup guy! He has already had almost 1100 official plate appearances! He strikes out 38% of the time and is batting 222! It is difficult if not impossible to find any other player this century with numbers like that to start a career who became middle of the order guys!

The only other hitter I can come up with is Jose Bautista! He had similar number his first 1000 at bats although he batted higher (245) and struck out less (around 30%)

Please help me with some others that have done as poorly and then became very good! If no one can then we are looking at a struck by lightning situation as far as Gorman is concerned!

Give him the rest of this year, sure, to prove himself but if the current numbers persist please don’t bring him back next year with the idea to give him another year to prove himself!

LA Card fan, my answer to who I would take between Gorman and Walker is neither! Neither is ever going to be a quality mlb hitter! Walker is the worst I have ever seen against the slider! Can’t hit it and can’t stop swinging at it! Start a slider on the outside and he will swing and miss 100% of the time! Batting those two 6 and 7 just makes me laugh! Tbey K back to back more than any two players I have ever seen!

1TD, I think we will be insignificant way before mid June if we are not there now! Anything that will lead to Ollie dismissal is a plus! No one can take a reset seriously as long as he in the manager!

I wonder how long Contreras is going to bat 2nd or 3rd before someone in the organization realizes he is not hitting and drops him in the order?

IMO one of the ways I will truly believe the Cardinals are serious about seeing how there young players do is when Mikolas is no longer on the roster and McGreevy is up and starting! We have watched Mikolas for years! He is not good and has no place in a rebuild!

Gscottar, we’ll put! We are not gonna be a contender for anything this year, period! I can see trading Nolan, IF, we can get some quality prospects! If not keep him and let him play! I don’t know what he will do but he will be better than Gorman! The only thing putting Gorman at 3rd assures is is a record breaking number of K’s in a season! He can’t hit, do we need to prove to can’t field either! I am very hopeful about our young pitchers! But we need hitters! Gorman ain’t gonna be one!

BW, sorry for the late response! I hate to be a negative Nellie but I think both things are seriously flawed! I do think that PD is the worst of the two evils! It seems to me we have given up on too many players recently like Alcantra and Arozarena before they were fully developed! That is why we are now stuck with Gorman imo! Afraid to get rid of him because what if another team develops him! Hopefully we will turn the corner in PD and some of these kids will become quality players!

I feel like the reason teams like Cleveland, Milwaukee and Tampa do better than us is simple! There evaluators of talent are far superior to ours! Those teams are able to consistently find young arms that can contribute year after year! Our system almost never helps! For 4 years we have been trying to prove that Liberatore belongs! During that time the Guardians and Brewers have brought up several arms that have helped them win divisions For whatever reasons there evaluators can look at a guy and say yes he can and he can! We can’t do that for whatever reasons!

These predictions make me feel terrible! Knowing you’re gonna suck before spring training starts is a real downer! I think Cards4ever is about right though! Hoping we can stay away from triple digit losses at least!

A great move and the first major step in rebuilding this organization! He knows how to develop players on a small market budget and that is what we need!
