Lots happening with Cardinals pitching. Dustin May will be held to around 65 pitches today due to his workload over the last few weeks. That, plus a doubleheader tomorrow, means a lot of coverage concerns.

Well we have outscored the Cubs 20-1 in this series so far. Might as well get the sweep tomorrow.
We all know this Cardinal team doesn’t have a lot of proven, established talent but my goodness these guys are fun to watch. These young players are not intimidated and are so resilient. Just when it looks like they may let go of the rope they get back up and fight again. They don’t know how to give up.
It has been very inspiring.
Boy was I wrong about Nathan Church. He has really been a bargain for the Cards and a solid contributor all over the field. Here is an interesting comparison:

#8 – Cooper Hjerpe – 25 years old, flew up the rankings from #11 to #8, simply because he is pitching for the first time in two years.
I got a chuckle out of that one LA. If Hjerpe could stay on the IL longer he might make it to number 1.
Welp, despite what I said earlier, it might be time to save some runs for tomorrow.
And the pen should get rested up today.
8-0 in the 4th looks good but I would feel better with about 5 more runs.
That Sandberg game of 1984 still haunts me.
The Cubs have been hotter than a firecracker lately. While we always strive for a series win I would settle for 1 out of 3 this weekend. Just don’t get swept.
Wow that is a blockbuster matchup! I wanted the Cards to get Anderson so bad but I figured he wouldn’t be available by the time we picked. Hopefully Doyle can get things on track and start asserting himself.
Chipper is back in the Midwest though and we are happy to have him.
Mike, the Braves also have a famous personality that goes by that name.
As I have mentioned in other threads I saw Molina pitch in college here at Arkansas. He was one of our better pitchers and I was thrilled when the Cards drafted him. I was more bullish on him than others in our prospect rankings last winter but I would say he has even exceeded my expectations so far.
I am glad to see this promotion.

Realsim has started to sink in as this team now resembles what we feared it would like. As Pugs mentioned they did give us a half season of inspired baseball. I also agree that if they continue to sink it does take the heat off of Bloom as he can continue with the rebuild properly without too much blow back. This decline might end up being a blessing in disguise because we are going to acquire even more nice prospects and be that much stronger for 2027 and 2028.
If our playoff dreams do end up vanishing for 2026 I will continue with my ABC mantra (Anyone But Cubs).
