Brebbia had two scoreless outings and then gave up 5 in 1.1 IP the third and last outing. I guess it was long enough.
Since leaving StL, Helsley has had nothing but misfortune.

Brebbia looked real good in his first outing, but then not so much. Man, too bad about Helsley. He looked like a guy we should probably move on from at the end of his time as a Redbird.

Woodford showed promise for the Cardinals at one. Good luck to him if he gets cut from the Cubs and winds up with another team.
Ron hunt passed away. He was from st louis but was drafted by the mets. Was a pretty solid ballplayer who had a knack of getting hit by the ball. Did end up playing for the cardinals for 12 games or so in 74. Got cut in 75 so he decided to hang his cleats up.
It takes courage and maybe a bit of craziness to actually enjoy getting whacked on various body parts by 95 mph hard objects. Ron may be urging Angels….not the ones from California, but rather up in heaven, to throw things at him as we speak.
Well the art of getting hit by the pitch does take some courage and grit but also requires being smart enough to do it in such a way that it doesnt hurt as much as it could.

Might have mentioned this before, but Steve Carlton was a guest at a local SABR dinner out here years ago. In the Q&A he was asked the usual, “Who was the toughest hitter for you?” He said it may surprise us, but he could never seem to get Ron Hunt out. He said something to the effect of “that little guy would crowd the plate so that I couldn’t pitch him inside without hitting him, and when I pitched him away he would slap the ball to right for a hit.”

Packy was a decent fill in back there in the last run of 2022. I’m thankful that he got to play in the big leagues for a bit. Hopefully he’ll be successful in whatever else he decides to do in life.
Packy was a guy to root for. Sort of a long shot type who somehow made it to the show. He was a case study on elbow trouble, having blown out both the UCL and the flexor tendon previously. At the end he was having trouble with both simultaneously. I wish him well.
Naughton used his long periods of time off wisely to prepare for his post-playing career. He has a real estate license and is working in the Jupiter area.
Wish I could afford to live there. About 8 million more subscribers should do it!
P.S. I think it was Derrick Goold who mentioned that Packy will help the coaches in FL for the rest of this season to see where that might lead.
