Yep, I didn’t see it, but sounds like Pallante delivered some really nice work tonight. Skenes is fun to watch too, so it must’ve been a game worth viewing.
The legend of Manny Motter grows and grows. I bet 1td owns the world’s only Manny Motter bobblehead. He’s the kind of guy you just can’t let go of. Just ask Mo. Or maybe I’m looking at that backwards, and he’s very easy to let go of since Mo let him go so damn many times last year, haha.
I wonder if Motter set a record for the most times DFAed by a single team in a single season? Or maybe he set a record for the shortest time between being DFAed by a team and then being re-signed to a major league contract by the same team. Maybe Jnevel has a clue.
All it took was one glance at the lineup on Oct. 7 of ’22 and you knew something was genuinely askew. Then you watched in horror as he allowed an injured closer to remain situated on the pitcher’s mound long enough to hand the baseball game over to the opposition.

1td, at least they wise up for post-season and do away with the gift baserunner. I think I will enjoy post-season even without the Cards. I did last year.
Yep, as the visiting team, if you go two extra innings without scoring, the weight of that feels like doom and gloom.
Ha, we love our dogs, don’t we? My 4-legged girl Bonnie left us last October. She was 16 and had a good life, so I won’t complain. Now at 65 I’m wondering along the same lines as Rat if I should get another one. Of course my wife would take care of it, but she’s about the same age as I am. A little pup could very well out-live both of us.

I’m guessing you didn’t see the play if you put that one on Edman. He made a perfect strike to the relay, Rojas, who dodged it for some reason. Rojas and Muncy have to make that play. Edman gets stuck with the error because nobody else bothered to touch it, and a perfect strike gets labeled “errant.” Muncy even said after the game that was a mental mistake on their part. Not sure if Muncy failed to communicate to Rojas, or Rojas went brain dead.
I think in some places a winning record, or even .500, is even acceptable. Not with St Louis, not with the Cardinals franchise, not with its history, and not with fans like us.
Too bad BDW Jr doesn’t think so.
Yeah, the boss’s kid basically maintained that if a customer received a lousy meal and refused to return to the table and sacrifice more money on another lousy meal it would be the fault of the customer when the food went from bad to worse…Where do these idiots come from?
This post makes the Captain Obvious point that the StL front office views the fans as their unwashed masses, their pawns, their butt wipes, etc. And it does so in a very Captain Extraordinaire manner, spot on, with perfect analogical reasoning! At least in this case, they weren’t lying when their lips were moving.

I watched more live innings of baseball during this LL game than I have since the CWS in Omaha ended. Gotta say that walk-off bunt brought back nightmarish memories. Randy Choate, 2014 NCLS Game 3, fields a bunt and throws it into right field, allowing our guy Crawford to score from 2B in a walk-off. That did the Cardinals in as they could never recover to make it out of San Fran alive.
Of course Matheny using Wacha to give up the series walk-off to Ishikawa added insult to injury. A disturbing thought for sure, but I always thought if the Cards played better baseball that series, Taveras would still be with us.
And did you notice the little leaguers don’t even use the ghost runner in the 1st extra inning? They wait until the 2nd extra inning.
Shildt has a lot of company, i.e., fans are having philosophical differences with Mo and Jr these days. As Yogi said, if the fans don’t want to come out to the park, nobody’s gonna stop ’em.
I remember Greg Mathews as a player, but also met him in 1999, I think it was. He was running a baseball clinic for youngsters that I had my son in.
As part of it, Greg gave the group a tour of Busch stadium. We got to go to the field, in the dugout, in the KMOX booth, etc. He told the kids it was very important they stay off the grass. He said he had a good relationship with the Cardinals that enabled him to do these tours and he didn’t want anybody to blow that, lol. All the kids and dads were good that day and followed his orders.

Surprised they won two in a row against those guys. That’s a winning streak. Maybe this is where Oli’s leadership kicks in. I hope he has the boys now convinced they gotta play ’em one day at a time, just be happy to be here and help the ball club, give it their best shot, and the good Lord willing, things will work out.

Now just one game above sea level. That’s a lot better than last year, but it doesn’t feel like it to me — maybe because this team isn’t exciting to watch most games. Not good is still not good. The organization seems lost and out of touch. Nibbling on the margins in areas of insignificance is about all they know to do. I imagine Bill and Mo waking up every morning taking a westward walk to watch the sun rise. The Cardinal Way has disappeared.
bikemike, not that anybody would be checking so soon with such a small sample size, but as a Ray, Carlson was OPSing over 1.000 after his hit tonight. Haha. Mo just put in the order for a 3-run HR in the bottom of the 9th.
