Also BS South and Southwest ExtraSeptember 20, 2024 at 12:08 pm #267584Din-din today will indeed be a CCFF! For the uninformed that’s a Cardinals Catfish Fiddler Friday. Then later this evening I’ll be down at Jasper for the titanic struggle between the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats and the Jasper Wildcats. Mater Dei comes in at 3-1 and Jasper sits at 2-2. Should be dandy of a game. Except for the fact that it’s Homecoming and I have to sit and suffer through that queen crowning stuff. Oh well.
That means I’ll miss this game tonight. I am still expecting Matt Carpenter to get one more start this weekend since it’s probably going to be the last time he appears at Busch Stadium.

September 20, 2024 at 1:28 pm #267586Sometimes you just gotta go for the gusto. And judging by Rat’s din-din tonight, that’s precisely what Rat is doing. I feasted on the fiddlers earlier this week, but I believe Rat has me inspired to go for Fiddler round 2. And speaking of Fiddlers, I’ve been scouting out waterfront locations for the possible venue for my new restaurant….”Fiddlers On The Roof”.
I look for us to bounce back tonight vs the Indians, even though this Cleveland starting pitcher has a very lively fastball. Let’s call it 5-3 Birds with Winn finding the left field cheap seats with bat in hand, shall we. And in a high school football upset special, look for that upstart Mater Dei squad to upend Jasper’s Wildcats by the score of 27-20.

Also found a packet of instant sour cream and chive flavored mashed potatoes. The only beverage I can find is a couple bottles of Red Stripe.
September 20, 2024 at 6:44 pm #267599I’ll be switching back and forth to the SF @ KC game as the Royals look to be sputtering at the wrong time and have now lost 4 straight. They still hold a 2 game grasp on an ALWC berth, but that could evaporate quickly if they don’t start to win some baseball games. I’m watching a portion of the pregame from Kaufmann and happened to see a clip of our old friend Rex Hudler riding atop a mule…Haha!
September 20, 2024 at 8:05 pm #267602Although it pales in importance to the lousy state of affairs regarding the W/L record of the past couple of seasons, I’m still having a hard time accepting what the current Cardinal bosses have done to the uniforms of my favorite team. At one time the Cardinals wore what I thought may be the sharpest looking Big League uniform on Earth.
September 20, 2024 at 8:07 pm #267603The throwing E-5 from the rookie only costs 1 run.
September 20, 2024 at 9:07 pm #267605Pugs?
You were close. Mater Dei beat Jasper 35-14 tonight.
And I just got home. Looks like I haven’t missed much. Time to hit the shower and watch the Dodgers game. Then an episode of Barnaby Jones. Along with a bite to eat and a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars.

September 20, 2024 at 9:25 pm #267607ChokeAnado doesnt know how many outs there is.
September 20, 2024 at 9:46 pm #267610We got schooled by a good team. But Gibson managed a QS against them.
1-8 with RISP.
September 20, 2024 at 9:58 pm #267611Sure did, and the Missouri team that’s still playing for something loses it’s 5th straight in a 2-1 final at Kauffman as Pham K’s to end it with the tying and lead runs at 2B and 3B.
September 21, 2024 at 12:06 am #267615Yep KCB, that was a bad look for Arenado. It’s not a good thing when, on top of everything else, your highly paid stars are mentally checked out. I wonder who they’ll sign next next year for player leadership.
September 21, 2024 at 6:34 am #267621Didn’t see this one as I dialed in to the Nebraska-Illinois game. But it is official now, no post season for your St. Louis Cardinals.
Still it looks like I will be at two of the three games against the lowly Rockies next week. The Rox are practically giving tickets away, so a couple of buddies and I will take in the Thursday matinee – plus the grand-daughter got us tickets to her company’s suite for a game.
So what the heck. Hopefully McGreevy pitches one of the games. Hoping to see a lineup with all young guys from here on out.
September 21, 2024 at 9:15 am #267640I do not understand why Goldschmidt and to some extent Arenado are still taking at bats?
Baker and Burleson could be getting a look at first.
Who else can play third?
I guess maybe since Cleveland is technically still battling for their division the Cards feel compelled to but the best on paper lineup out there?
Dunno……
