This team is boring.
August 26, 2024 at 7:58 pm #265610Surely the Cardinals are drawing thousands of extra fans per game because they refused to sell at the trade deadline, right?
I mean, they are only 5 games back of the wild card!
August 26, 2024 at 8:00 pm #265611Goldy with his typical strikeout with a runner in scoring position as the Cardinals are trying to rally.
August 26, 2024 at 8:23 pm #265617Could this be Gibson’s last start as a Cardinal?
August 26, 2024 at 8:32 pm #265619We worked in the garden some and then with it being a real nice evening here, took a walk. Just got back and I was like “let’s see what the score is and whether or not it is worth watching the rest of the game.” I see it is 7-2 Shildt. Verdict – not worth watching.
August 26, 2024 at 8:48 pm #265620Oliver Marmol is just horrid. Gibson was clearly laboring 5 hitters before he was taken out of the game. Goldschmidt, he’s about done. His lower half is a mess and he’s cheating to get to the fastball as he has no base and his bat speed is very slow. It’s time to move on from him after the season. There’s much more, but watching this live is tough.
August 26, 2024 at 9:02 pm #265621It is comforting to know we have philosophy on our side.
August 26, 2024 at 9:13 pm #26562328k announced. LMAO. Empty seats yes. Attendance no. They aren’t even trying anymore to tell the truth.
August 26, 2024 at 9:14 pm #265624Listen to the opposing broadcasters say what the team employees cannot.
Padres Broadcasters Don Orsillo and Mark Grant describe the current state of Busch Stadium and the St. Louis Cardinals:
“Shocking”
“NOT the Busch Stadium I’m used to”
“Usually it’s packed”
“Not used to this EVER”☠️😭 pic.twitter.com/gRKNkJTBGP

Participant“Oh the gift that God could give us, to see ourselves as others see us.”
August 26, 2024 at 9:32 pm #265627The lack of fans in the seats just illustrates the fact that human nature remains the same as it ever was. I’ve attended countless games at Busch Memorial Stadium in both the 70’s and 90’s of which the gate was less than 15K. In fact, I’d go so far as to say a handful of those games were fortunate to have had 7500 baseball fans in attendance. Win some games and the fans will flock back to the ballpark. Just like always.
August 26, 2024 at 9:39 pm #265628Speaking of face of the franchise, next season will be Helsley’s last arb season and he will be a FA afterwards. So do the Cardinals try to sign him for multi years this winter?
August 26, 2024 at 9:50 pm #265630No. He’ll want too much money and closers are the riskiest of dicey pitching propositions.
August 26, 2024 at 9:59 pm #265631Shildt has a lot of company, i.e., fans are having philosophical differences with Mo and Jr these days. As Yogi said, if the fans don’t want to come out to the park, nobody’s gonna stop ’em.
August 26, 2024 at 10:02 pm #265632Disappointed they lost, but glad I went. I got to spend time with some coworkers and that made it worth it. Going again tomorrow so maybe they can turn it around and get in the win column.
August 26, 2024 at 10:16 pm #265634At this moment we are 5.5 back, but the Braves are winning late so its going to be back to 6 out of a WC. Also, the Cubs and Giants are ahead of us again so we are back to needing to pass 4 teams to get a WC slot.
August 26, 2024 at 11:33 pm #265637Oliver Marmol is just horrid. Gibson was clearly laboring 5 hitters before he was taken out of the game. Goldschmidt, he’s about done. Well…not that it matters but it certainly appeared he was done way before that. I understand why he was left in for the 5th. I mean he is a starter. Maybe a couple batters earlier he should’ve been yanked. Oh well
It will be interesting to see how the Cards play this the next few days. A whitewash and I don’t see how they don’t put some guys on waivers and see if someone claims them. Hell they may put someone like Lynn on after September to see if someone may need a starter for a couple starts and move him to the pen .
August 27, 2024 at 6:14 am #265652Mo is too passive aggressive to come clean and have a warm, open and frank presser about the mess he oversees.
He hasn’t gotten dumber; in my opinion I see a guy who grew into his job and did pretty well but then over time become arrogant, inflexible, and too sure of himself to the point where it was his way or the highway – all backed up and reinforced by the owner who stuck with his favorite old horse about 5 years too long.
It’s understandable but also very regrettable using the old adage ‘hind sight is 20-20’.
In most industries it is very true that if you stop learning and evolving you fall behind. The Cardinals FO appears to be a textbook example of this.

You just summed up the Cardinal’s disfunctional organization. There was a time when the Cardinals were looked up to as the way to run a first class team. Now, other front offices must laugh at the things the Cardinals do and don’t do.
