Rbi base knocks by Arenado and Saggese propels the red Birds to a 2-0 advantage over the blue Birds, as they venture to the top of the 3rd inning in Toronto. Fedde has surrendered just 1 hit and no walks thus far.
1TD will have to explain his logic of the sun setting in the west being a 50/50 chance. Seems more like 100/0 in favor of it doing that in my experience.
The Cardinals at 50/50 for post season is a bit optimistic. I would need a lot better odds than to risk only a 50/50 bet on us making the post season.
Odds are we win about half our remaking games, and Atlanta and New York win a little more than half. It would be a major upset along the lines of 1964 for us to play in October.

Din-din here? I am doing the dog/house sitting gig again at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s place. Did a 2 1/2 week gig in August,and back for a week while they jet-set to Rome. Put together a roast pork and potato burrito with Hatch green chile salsa, avocado, lettuce and cheese. Excellent!Uniforms seem to be trending towards the absurd little by little. I was disappointed in the Twins attire in our series up there recently. They had a different uni for each game, and none were near as good as their classics.
Ground chuck burgers seared in a white hot frying pan with plenty of salt, pepper and garlic powder placed on a nice fresh Pepperidge Farm sesame seed bun with sliced onion, tomato and pickle, with the usual oven cooked french fried taters, served up with an ice cold can of Coca Cola… Nuthin’ fancy, but not too shabby. Uh oh…I forgot to bring the ketchup into the den…I hate it when have to get back up!

He’s now had 8 turns in the Cardinal rotation and I have to say that I’m not real impressed with Fedde at this juncture. I’d rather watch Lynn work a turn. At least he’s entertaining.

Yeah TD, I myself am already fed-up with what Fedde has been bringing to the table thus far……but I still have high hopes of him coming around and being our #4 starter in 2025.
If someone would have asked me back in the late 70’s to early 80’s which team between the Expos and Blue Jays would survive the longest and realize the most success, I’d have almost certainly ventured a guess that it would be the Expos. I’m still a little surprised they’re not around when I take into account all of the incredibly talented baseball players that began their Big League careers as a Montreal Expo.
Yeah Pugs, he hasn’t been entirely horrible with a semi-respectable ERA of 4.30 as a Cardinal, but since becoming a Cardinal, he’s 1-5 in turns in which he’s the pitcher of decision. To me that’s a strong indication that he hasn’t yet learned to pitch well enough to win. But let’s face facts…In his seven season Big League career he’s 29-42 with an ERA of 4.88. We shouldn’t have expected much at all to begin with.

Not too difficult to envision that ending. All these extra inning games are pretty easy to call with the silly rule. If you don’t score at least 1 run, you’re in big trouble. It’s stupid.
Yep, as the visiting team, if you go two extra innings without scoring, the weight of that feels like doom and gloom.
You ain’t kidding, Euro. It may be the worst rule ever enacted. I think it’s far worse than the DH. It changes the entire dynamics of what I once thought of as a baseball game.
1td, at least they wise up for post-season and do away with the gift baserunner. I think I will enjoy post-season even without the Cards. I did last year.
Here’s a thought. How about if they keep playing regular baseball after nine innings until one team finishes an inning with more runs than the other?
I understand the reason for the rule, to save pitching staffs from being over worked. Also they want to keep from having four hour games, although at that point it gets kind of fun to see if you can hang in there for the marathon.
But I would use a hybrid version and keep playing “real” baseball for three extra innings. If after the 12th the game is tied, then go to the runner on second rule.
Or you could do like pro football, and keep playing for 12 innings and if the game is still tied, call it just that, a tie.

I hope Saggese does well, but chances are the 23% K rate he had in AAA is going to be even higher in MLB. He is known to have poor pitch recognition and zone discipline skills, which Blake discussed this past Wednesday on the podcast. We have had our fill of guys who can tee one up now and then but can’t put the bat on the ball with RISP.
