Miller might need to DH. He is shaky at 3rd.
Way to go DeJong.
Royals starter Brad Keller is 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and opponents are batting .140 against him. Wow. This might not be so easy. Go Cards.
Good pitching beats good hitting. We are loaded with good pitching.
Goldschmidt is quietly on his way to a great year. Yadi too (4-5 today and clutch as always). DeJong hit the ball hard today.(Nothing to show for it, but a good sign). Carp finding his groove. Dylan is a player and will help us this year…got that sweet Chipper Jones swing and good eye. Wong is solid. Maybe Dex too. Love the Brad Miller pickup, ala Lance Berkman, Will Clark, etc. Good to see Bader catching fire, but I’m not a believer yet.
Shildt managing our arms conservatively for the long haul is a good sign. Bringing along our rookies nicely while still giving the veterans their due. We’ve got a good skipper. Credit to Mo on that.
Probably not our year to win it all, but stranger things have happened. Wouldn’t that be epic if we pulled it off after the start we’ve had?
That’s a winner!
That Bader bloop double will look like a line drive in the box score tomorrow. Wong’s too. 😎 Come on Edman.
Sit down Votto!
Plagiarize all you want, Pugs. (The key to the peas is not to drain the bacon grease). 😉
Pugs, that’s a nice din-din. I’m having pork chops(thin breakfast chops, bone-in,lightly peppered and salted) grilled on my PK Grill. I’m going to couple those with a batch of fresh purple hull peas. For those, I fry about a half pound of bacon and sauté with a yellow onion, pablano pepper, and garlic; then throw in the peas and boil (low) for 45 minutes.
I’m going to boil a head of cabbage down (add 1 can of chicken broth), with some black pepper. Also gonna have fresh sliced Arkansas tomatoes, lightly peppered and salted of course. To drink, I’ll be opening a bottle of Anne Amie Pinot Noir. Just poured my first gin and tonic, sitting here watching a pretty boring golf tournament, waiting for the Cards to come on.
I see Tyler O’Neill, responding to Shildt batting him clean-up, crushing one up into Big Mac land. Cards roll tonight.
Cabrera is not ready for prime time.
To me, Carlson passes the eyeball test. Thomas doesn’t.
No way I am giving up on Carlson this early, but I was surprised to learn that his career batting average in the minor leagues was .261. It seems odd that our top prospect is only a career .261 hitter in the minor leagues. Why were we so high on him?
Man Goldschmidt is getting a workout at first base tonight. Uncle Charlie just showed up. Let’s get some runs.

Not sure why Shildty didn’t pinch run Bader for Goldschmidt after that lead-off double in the 7th. I think Bader would’ve scored on that single to right by Carp. But Brad Miller came through so it doesn’t matter. Let’s get greedy and get a W in game 2.August 15, 2020 at 7:11 pm in reply to: 2020 Cardinals Game #7 – Sat. Aug 15 at White Sox (DH G2) #135353
They didn’t look rusty to me. They looked determined. Lots of contributions from the young guns. Fun day. We are back in the mix.August 15, 2020 at 10:45 am in reply to: 2020 Cardinals Game #6 – Sat. Aug 15 at White Sox (DH G1) #135250
I like that lineup.
Heck, I just like having a lineup, any lineup, at this point. Holding my breath that we can get through this next hour and a half without another positive test, lol.
Unbelievably, we start the day in second place. Let’s do this.
Stephen Piscotty hit a ninth inning grand slam to help force extra innings in the A’s comeback win over the Giants last night.
It was his second ninth inning grand slam this year and made him the first Athletic and 14th player in MLB history with two ninth inning grand slams in the same season.
*I also heard a stat this morning on either MLB Network or ESPN, not sure which, that said Piscotty and Andre Dawson are the only two players in MLB history to hit two ninth inning grand slams in the first 20 games of a season.
I like the fact that our team is driving individual rental cars to Chicago. That’s old school. That’s St. Louis.
8 teams from the NL will make the playoffs, and more than half of the NL stinks. Finish the games we can squeeze in above .500 and we are in the playoffs.
If we can pull out of this tailspin and win our 12th World Championship, I dare anybody to put an asterisk on that flag that’ll be proudly erected aside the others in Busch stadium.
Come on now Blingboy, get real. You know that there’s no way that Chicago rule will be applied in this case. The Cardinals have been quarantined and tested daily for 17 days now. If there are no more positive tests tomorrow the Cards will be allowed in.
Any word on today’s test results?
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those who tested positive.
The rumors regarding the origin of the outbreak are just inconsequential noise, and they will be forgotten as soon as the Cardinals win a game.
Yes, this is a condensed season, but even so, it is still early and anything, including another World Series flag added to the plethora of World Series flags already proudly flying at Busch stadium, is still possible.
We took a left hook to the chin, but the ref did not stop the fight. Shildt did not throw in the white towel.
The Cubs are coming to town.
It’s only August 5th. Next man up. Time to regroup and play some ball. Go Cards.
Thank you for your instant take links and updates Brian.
This is a great site, and I’m thankful to be here.
I hope our Cardinal players, staff, and coaches get well soon.
Has anybody heard from Shildt? Is he doing okay?
If it rolls through our team now, we’ll be immune when it counts. Godspeed to all. Go Cards.
