Arozarena had to go after live streaming Shildt’s profanity laced we don’t care who we play next we will kick their ass speech after we beat the Braves in the playoffs last year. It took away our mojo. He was young, and perhaps it’s not fair, but he had to go. That was a major breach of locker room etiquette.

Good pitching beats good hitting most of the time, especially in the playoffs. (Advantage Cardinals).

Experience and tradition matters, especially in the playoffs. (Advantage Cardinals).

I like the KK, Waino, Flaherty pitching order.

The young Padres are a good squad, but the operative word there is young.

I like our chances. I’ll spend tomorrow figuring out what to put on the PK grill for Wednesday’s 4pm start. Right now, I’m leaning towards marinating a flank steak tomorrow for some medium rare fajitas on Wednesday.

    October baseball. Nothing like it.

    Go Cards.

Flaherty is not our ace right now. I’d put him at #3 behind Waino and KK.

Nice oppo single by DeJong. Maybe that’ll get something started.

    Go Cards.

Congrats to Yadi for # 2000.

Bull is managing the bullpen like this is Game 7 of the World Series. I have no beef with that. He’s pushing all the right buttons as far as I’m concerned.

Bad plate appearance by Wong there.

Bull has done a masterful job of bringing Carlson along.

    Boom! Carlson!

He’s going to be a modern day Chipper Jones. I’ll take it.

Wong, Edman, Goldschmidt string together back to back to back singles. 1-0 Redbirds. KK dealing. You’ve got about as good of a chance winning with that formula as you do with a bunch of homer/strikeout guys and poor pitching.

    Go Cards.

    I like that lineup.

    Carlos Martinez makes me nervous.

For din-din tonight it’s grilled salmon over a steaming pile of rice pilaf and some broccoli on the side.

    Go Cards.

Carp may be worthless, but that throwing shoulder of his was loosened up tonight like I haven’t seen it in years. He has rared back and thrown some seeds from deep in the hole to first.

Pugs, I threw in some raw onions with my shredded cheese and Carroll Shelby’s Texas chili last night. It was delicious; thanks for the tip. Brian, I googled Carroll Shelby and his face car history; thanks for the tip. His chili rivals his race car career, fyi.

Tonight’s did-din is leftover purple hull peas over some leftover white rice, with some leftover cornbread crumbled and mixed in, and a side of roasted Idaho red potatoes. It’s technically vegetarian, but with a lot of starch, lol. Some cantaloupe for my fruit, and a nice Pinot Noir for my second serving of fruit 🙂

As for the Cards, my enthusiasm is undeterred, despite last night’s loss. But for a routine slow hopper to first base, unfortunately with the shift on, we would’ve gotten to our pen tied 1-1 and possibly won that game.

My mindset is just make the playoffs. I’d like to see us improve our situational hitting, but as mediocre as it is, it is still better than most of the rest of MLB. Announcers said last night that our defense is 1st in MLB in runs saved (35), and Popeye is 1st among MLB left fielders in defensive runs saved (9).

Combine that with a starting rotation of Waino, Flaherty, and Kim, and a plus bullpen, and I’ll take my chances. As we all know, when the leaves turn gold, the Braves will fold. And I think we are better than the Cubs this year. Just make the tourney.

Wishing everyone a pleasant and healthy evening.

    Go Cards.

Oh what a difference a couple of days can make. Saturday evening it looked like we had one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

Now we are back in 2nd place, control our own destiny, got Waino toeing the rubber tonight, Dex and Gallegos back. Things are looking up. I think we are due to score some runs too.

It’s a beautiful evening here in Northwest Arkansas with a hint of fall in the air. I just walked out back and picked some of the last of my pablano peppers and sweet 100 cherry tomatoes to put in the Carroll Shelby’s Texas Chili I’ve got simmering on the stove. Plan to eat it with some Nabisco Premium saltine crackers and shredded cheddar cheese right about the time of tonight’s first pitch.

Wishing everybody a pleasant and healthy evening in this currently crazy world.

    Thankful for this place.

    Go Cards.

25, regarding Wong showing bunt earlier. I hear ya. That’s some 3 dimensional chess though. We’re down a run at that point. I’d prefer to just go for the sacrifice fly, or something, in that spot.

Carlson definitely needs some AAA time next year.

Here comes Cabrera! Hold onto your seat!

You’ve got a man on 3rd with less than two outs. Why give up an out just to move a guy to second.

Tip of the cap to Ponce.

I’d go to war with him any day.
