O’Neill is looking solid so far this season. Dylan Carlson gets his first big league hit, a double. Well done, Dylan!
I guess Reyes still has some life left in that right arm. He blew Robert away with a 99 mph fastball.
Reyes fans the side. His fastball looked great, and while he struggled to command the off speed stuff, it looked like it had sharp break still. Nice work by Alex to preserve the 5-3 lead.
Reyes had the smoke working. He needs to get his control back but that will come. Nice to see him succeed. also good peice of hitting by Carlson and good hustle to get that double. Hope the youth keeps this up over the long haul.
If Tyler O’Neill fulfills his potential, it’s going to be a huge plus. He and Carlson in the outfield could be exciting.

A. Per Cots, Miller’s option For 2021 is guaranteed if he pitches in 110 games in 2019 and 2920 combined.
B. He made 73 appearances in 2019 … this means he needs 37 games in a full season.
C. This number could drop to 14 games if performance options get pro-rated based on games scheduled (162 game season versus 60 game season or a factor of 2.7).Anyone elSe have thoughts?

They didn’t look rusty to me. They looked determined. Lots of contributions from the young guns. Fun day. We are back in the mix.

I have never liked starting pitchers using the stretch full time. I would think it puts more pressure on your arm having to go from zero to 90 you might say. Using At least some windup or pivot where you get your body And legs in motion would seem to be a much better way to last as a pitcher in my opinion. Still glad to see Woodford do well, but don’t like the stretch starting point. He also does that odd leg kick in his follow through, which is going to get some balls shot back up the middle off his leg now and then.
Good to see Carlson get his feet wet. He has that look of a ball player – smooth and stylish. And you saw that they gave him number 3. A reflection that they think he is the next super star. Lots of hype.
Good to see Reyes with a live arm again. He could be a huge bonus if he can stay on the field.
Don’t think we will ever see another season where a team doubles it’s season win total on August 15th.
Ty O’Neill staying behind the ball a lot better, as Edmonds preaches. It’s early, but he has always had that compact swing and I have always felt if he can also stay on the field, he can adjust to the game at this level and be a force.
Did Cabrera put on weight? I do not remember him being that chunky.
With the passage of time, the Luke Voit deal where we got Geo Gallegos is looking like a win for the Cardinals.
Like the way Edman handled himself at shortstop. He looked comfortable and made the plays.
Oh and one more – I like those 7 inning games. Those are the kind of games that used to be played in nine. Times were 2:19 and 2:30.
And this – with all of the double-headers we will have, there could be an advantage. With every DH you play 4 less innings, assuming no extras. That is four less innings of wear and tear on your pitching staff and players.
