A nice article on Jon Jay. He certainly gives his former Cards coaches and teammates a lot of credit for his growth, as well.
Several things about that article.
1.) His stabilizing influence was one of the factors in the Cardinals’ success.
2.) He wasn’t given enough credit here for his leadership and mentoring of younger players. And leadership is critical on any successful team.As an aside, that’s quite a stat on 10 year players – only 6% of 20,000.

Always liked Lynn and thought the Cards should have kept him. He is one of those big, workhorse type guys that gives you innings. When he left us he overplayed his hand and felt he would get more in free agency than he did.

Stephen Piscotty hit a ninth inning grand slam to help force extra innings in the A’s comeback win over the Giants last night.
It was his second ninth inning grand slam this year and made him the first Athletic and 14th player in MLB history with two ninth inning grand slams in the same season.
*I also heard a stat this morning on either MLB Network or ESPN, not sure which, that said Piscotty and Andre Dawson are the only two players in MLB history to hit two ninth inning grand slams in the first 20 games of a season.
