The Cards could really use this one. They’ve been straddling the .500 mark and need to start clawing over it. Ponce has been great at times but hasn’t gone deep into games. Hopefully we can get 5 effective innings from him and get the offense going a bit.

Yep, it’s time for them to rip off an 8-2 record over the next 10 games.

Castillo is a very good pitcher. The Cards hitters are going to need to make him work to get into the pen. And Ponce needs a good start to keep things close.

So Tommy looking more and more comfortable every AB and were just going to start sitting him???

And Molina back up that high? Drives me nuts!!! He shouldn’t be above 8th in the order! Hope he goes 4-4 to prove me wrong, but I’ll still say hit him 8th.

I would have kept Elledge around. He’s looked really good and deserves more innings. Way more than any LH in that pen, especially Webb.

No Fowler from the left side but they play Carlson and Bader. We’ll see I guess.

Carlson is a switch hitter……when he hits.

well ponces thoughts on trying to go deeper into games isnt looking great today. Almost 30 pitches in the first inning. Best way to last longer, throw strikes and throw them often. Pitching from behind in the count only leads to problems.

the difference in the inning…. ponce got behind to their cleanup hitter, he hit a pitch down the middle over the fence. Their pitcher got behind our cleanup hitter, he fouled off a pitch down the middle.

Ponce is going to destroy the bullpen today. We really needed a more efficient game from him. This game is the opposite of yesterday so far, with an inning and a half chewing up nearly an hour.

Dylan Carlson has a good eye, it seems. Unfortunately, he’s got a hole in his bat, or at least a weak spot in it. He really did lose out with the lack of AAA ball this year.

Harrison Bader silences the naysayers for a moment with a 2 run homer to center. We are tied up at 2 apiece.

Lorenzen, the new pitcher, threw one up and in on Bader. The Reds must think he had been crowding the plate. Shortly after, Carlson was tagged out at the plate. Still 3-2 Cards heading into the 5th.

im not sure i agreed with the bunt there. Wong has been one of our best hitters. Miller was hot for a moment but not now. Thats how he is. i would have went with my consistent guy getting a hit over giving up an out to get up a inconsistent guy especially a pull hitter.
