The Chicago Department of Public Health has in effect an Emergency Travel Order requiring travelers coming from certain states, including Missouri, to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Chicago.

Come on now Blingboy, get real. You know that there’s no way that Chicago rule will be applied in this case. The Cardinals have been quarantined and tested daily for 17 days now. If there are no more positive tests tomorrow the Cards will be allowed in.
If you read the Order, it has nothing to do with the time since a positive test. It is 14 days from exiting one of the named states, Missouri being one. I didn’t say I thought it would be applied to the Cardinals entourage, but I do think that if I was to follow along in my car, I would be required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
I like the fact that our team is driving individual rental cars to Chicago. That’s old school. That’s St. Louis.
8 teams from the NL will make the playoffs, and more than half of the NL stinks. Finish the games we can squeeze in above .500 and we are in the playoffs.
If we can pull out of this tailspin and win our 12th World Championship, I dare anybody to put an asterisk on that flag that’ll be proudly erected aside the others in Busch stadium.

A lot of talk today on Sirius Radio about the Cardinals. Most of the discussion was around how many games will they be “able” to play and how many should they be “required” to play to qualify for playoff consideration. I sure did not like the tone. Several analysts were questioning whether the Cards should allowed to qualify if they do not play 55 games. Ugh!

In fact, two weeks straight…
The last time anyone other than a member of the #STlCards tested positive for COVID-19 in MLB/PA testing was July 30. So that is 2 weeks in which just 1 team has a positive.

Almost makes me wonder what traveling music the team would have with everybody taking rental cars for a road trip…
I said it in another thread and I still believe it. There is something unknown about how this virus spreads. There’s got to be something else going on. It just doesn’t make sense that every other ball club has been following protocol to the letter and with no missteps, but not the Cardinals.
Mudville the issue may be clubhouse related but also again the team can only police the people it employees. Nothing is stopping other people within the players household of going out and running errands ect… The players are responsible for maintaining order within those walls. I would hope they’ve put the hammer down but sometimes it’s hard.
The players are on the road this weekend. So anything goes with family and friends back in St. Louis. That is the scary part and I don’t think the team has anyone monitoring those situations.
Life comes at you fast. Indians appear to be serious about holding players accountable.

But all the other players, on all the other teams, also have people within the player’s household going in and out. It’s almost impossible to keep over a thousand twenty-something kids from breaking protocol, and then another five hundred or so coaches, etc from breaking protocol here and there. So why didn’t any of them get the virus? Maybe it’s just an outlier, a fluke that it happened only to the Cardinals. Or, maybe something else happened, or is happening, that nobody has identified yet. I’m not saying that there’s a conspiracy, or something like that. I’m just saying that there could be an unidentified reason why the Cardinals got it so bad, and nobody else did. The idea that the Cardinals were negligent, and nobody else was negligent, just doesn’t hold water in my estimation. That’s all.

Mud I think just the opposite. 29 teams out of 30 is convincing evidence that introduction and spread can be controlled with known protocol.
Plesac’s rant blaming the media from his car while driving with no seatbelt confirmed his knucklehead status. The best part is that he has a brother with Type 1 diabetes (like Hicks). I haven’t seen Clevinger address lying to his teammates about being with Plesac and getting on the team plane afterward.
Based on several of their teammates’ anger, the team may have decided to let matters cool down by getting them out of Dodge.
It seems the video hastened their departure.

So much for two quiet weeks (other than the Cardinals).
I wonder about the timing of the results being received. Generally, teams get them sometime in the afternoon, I think. But the Reds are probably on MLB’s standard every-other-day testing plan, so the positive player might not have been detected immediately.
They come to StL this Thursday…
