This season may come down to who is the healthiest. Is it because of individual team’s adherence to protocols or just luck?
Teams that have seen how the Cubs are operating in a pandemic say they have it “completely buttoned up.” Not to say it will be easy to keep this record, but the Cubs are the 1 team to have ZERO Covid positives, including even on intake.

More bad news, it appears…
There are more positive COVID-19 tests today from the #STLCards in their preliminary testing but the exact number won’t be known until tonight. They remain quarantined in Milwaukee. Their next scheduled game is Tuesday in Detroit.

The latest round of coronavirus tests from the St. Louis Cardinals are, in the words of someone with the team, "not good." There are expected to be multiple new positives, sources tell ESPN. Cardinals took more tests this morning, and results of those should arrive by tonight.

When Yoenis Cespedes didn't show up today, the Mets sent security to his room. They found it empty. He had taken his belongings, just up and left, and through his agent informed the team mid-game that he was opting out, according to Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen.

Miami Marlins 11 day hotel stay in their Philadelphia based hotel has ended. On to Baltimore. They are now scheduled to be on the road for 24 consecutive days before returning to Miami on August 14th. They packed for 6 days.

Going to be interesting to see how those ‘bubbles’ work out. I know the Blues have a hard time knowing they lost by .1 of a second. I have never seen one that close.
So Espn lists only Wainwright and Hudson as starting pitchers for the next 10 days. Most other teams have their rotation complete in their 10 days going forward.
Should any assumptions be made from this?
No. Ignore those probable pitchers. They are nothing more than guesses (or maybe leftovers from before). The Cardinals have made no announcements on upcoming pitching or even the roster, for that matter.
The Cards will be lucky to play any games in the next 10 days, so I doubt that ESPN will have any extra insight into things.
It is getting so wacky that some media members are trying to assess whether the team’s flight to Detroit is on or off.
Most of these young and physically fit guys are having minimal symptoms, but it’s very good that Hicks wasn’t exposed to this. Not sure if being young and physically fit trumps something like diabetes.

No need to apologize for ESPN, which is certainly a credible site. It is just that with the Cardinals having been in limbo for multiple days now, it is highly unlikely that ESPN would have some unique news on the Cardinals’ plans that no one else does.
One reason that I have not posted Game Threads for the Detroit series is that the team has provided no formal information about these games other than game time. Like I mentioned above, we don’t know yet which players will still be on the roster.
I am expecting a few more opt-outs in the next week or so especially if we have more bug breakouts. Cespedes was really a brave guy – last year of his contract, leaves in the middle of the night telling nobody. It seems if memory does not fail me that he was a frequent flyer on the IL and for long periods of time.
I think I know the answer but if a player ops out and has no valid reason is the season counted as a year off his contract? I am thinking yes.
Well if anybody spots the Cards at the airport let us know. Boy names would sure be nice to know too but they are keeping that info tight in house. I find myself checking TCN and other sources frequently to see if there is any news on this situation. PLAY BALL TOMORROW please.
