Ouch lead off double and he doesn’t move due to strikeouts.

Top of 9. Chase Anderson continues on.

O’Neill- Gets his teeth into one as he hits a long one to left!….and over Braun’s head as it will skip up against the wall and Tyler will cruise into 2nd with yet another in a long line of Cardinal leadoff hits here this evening.

    Carp- Strikes out swinging

Goldy- Is there enough magic in that bat for #4? And the wimps won’t give him the chance as they’ll walk him intentionally. Who was the last Cardinal truly capable of whacking 4 in a single game? Albert? Jack? Ritchie? Runners at 1st & 2nd.

    DeJong- Whiffs swinging

    Ozuna- Whiffs.

well it makes sense to walk goldy. it was up to dejong to make them pay but no. 4 runs can easily be made up especially since you don’t know if the next pitcher is gonna be on his game. I would have liked to see him have a chance. but these other guys are gonna have to step up.

    SCORE CORRECTION

I saw that Goldy was batting that inning and automatically credited the Cardinals with a run. I stand corrected….the Cardinals did not score in the 9th and the score is 9-5 Birds. Thank you.

And why didn’t O’Neill stay in the game for Ozuna?

Not exactly a news flash, but I do believe we have stolen a monster from Arizona’s mist.

good inning for hicks. pretty good game. pitching was iffy at times with Flaherty and miller being the main culprits. some missed opportunities but still we did enough. another young pitcher tonmorrow.

Those of you who bet on John Gant, the pitcher who lost out in the rotation battle, earning the first victory of the Cards season, enjoy your winnings.

Great win, but still a couple of things that I do not understand (there are actually a lot of things I don’t understand, but those pertaining to the current Cardinal club are these):

    – No way Goldy can stay in the two spot with DeJong hitting 3. If he hits like vintage Goldschmidt, he will lead the league in IBBs. Need to have a stronger hitter behind him, which will be Ozuna, who I expect will have a solid season.

    – Why did we use the “B” bullpen in the close game on Thursday, and use the “A” bullpen with 4 and 5 run leads last night? To partially answer my own question, it is not a bad thing to break the ice with your ‘pen in a game with no pressure.

    – Good question was brought up on having O’Neill stay in for Ozuna, or he could have gone to right for Fowler.

Provocating thoughts as always, BicicletaMiguel!…(never a bad idea to sprinkle in a little Espanol for our good friends south of the border). Goldy is definitely destined for the 3 hole, but after donking 3 out last night, you almost do not want to toy with his place in the order right now. Makes a big difference who you’re go to trot out from the pen when you’re facing a guy like Hader with the lead. O’Neill and JMart are right on the precipice of becoming the best Cardinal hitters not named Goldschmidt……and we cannot find them a home in the starting lineup. We all know why JMart isn’t in there, but O’Neill? Fowler better start hitting pretty darn soon.

Not a bad guess, so cal cards fan! But it was actually our very own BobbyReed in a post right here at The Cardinal Nation a couple months ago. No winner last night so we kick in another 5 clams, ramping up Sunday’s Cardinal trivia prize to a very mouth watering $55 Red Lobster gift certificate. And that’s my lead in to a little programming reminder that PBP will not be on tap at Miller Park tonight, as yours truly has to attend a wedding. But, we’ll be back bright eyed and bushy tailed for Sunday’s affair. As always…..be there….or be totally []

Used the A bullpen Friday beause we saved them in case we had a close game lead. We had a large lead but had to use them to keep them sharp.

I personally consider brebbia better than anyone that pitched last night outside maybe hicks so I wouldn’t consider last night the A bullpen. miller at this point sure isn’t that.

I’ll give Bob rights since his posts are so awesome. But the ‘other’ original was episode 13 (3rd Season – Missouri Mish Mash Series 7 part 1) of The Rocky Show, where narrator William Conrad gives the title of the next episode (14), 1961/2.

Time stamp 4:11 near the very end.

    This is the ‘other first’!

Dakota gives up a rare home run on a fat sinker. In fact, that’s the first he’s allowed as a big league pitcher. 1-0 Brewers.

Two Ks around two singles and he sneaks out with no more damage done. Ok offense, let’s get to this Brewers staff!!
