Can anyone out there find stats that indicate whether or not the constant shifting of infielders has made certain infield positions more or less valuable defensively that in previous years?
Randy Johnson didn’t start to get his BB rate under control until he was 30+ years old.
February 2, 2021 at 9:19 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021 #153283with regards to Joey Gallo of Texas, he makes Dave Kingman and Pete Incaviglia look like batting champions. We need guys that consistently get on base and put the ball in play. Sub .210 hitters who are K machines hurt more than they help.
January 29, 2021 at 4:12 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2021 #152721How does this affect our negotiations with Yadi?…The Athletic reported on Friday night that the Phillies made Realmuto a five-year offer worth “slightly north” of $100 million. It is well below Realmuto’s asking price at the end of last Spring Training — he hoped to land a $200 million deal — and possibly below the record average annual value for a catcher.
Don’t look now, but Descalso is back on the market!
Not enough asterisks in the world to put beside this WS and the joke of a season that preceded it. Real baseball resumes in April of 2021.
Arozarena sets rookie mark with 7th HR…great trade eh.
2020 positives:
1. One year closer to getting rid of Carpenter, Fowler and Martinez.
2. Kim and Gomber – finally some LHSP production.
3.. Mikolas and Hicks miss the 2020 season and not a real season.
4. Yadi and Wainwright can still contribute and should be considered for 2021 if the $$$ is right.
5. Lots of good young pitching.2020 negatives:
1. Underwhelming outfield. ( just imagine if our outfield was Ozuna, Taveras and whoever.)
2. Unreliable bullpen.
3. Way too many pitching injuries.September 23, 2020 at 10:30 pm in reply to: 2020 Cardinals Game #53 – Wed. Sep. 23 at Royals #141493I can’t believe the Royals actually have a RP named Blewett! The worst name for a pitcher since Bob Walk.

would the prospect of a shortened season make a trade for Arenado early in the season more or less likely?
In the state of New York as of today 99.89% of the population does not have Covid 19.
A two to three week delay may be almost justifiable , but eight weeks is absolutely irrational and completely unnecessary. MLB is pandering to fanatical elements within the media and the sports establishment.
The U.S. population is close to 330 million, meaning our incidence rate so far is 1 in 330,000, about 1/20 of China’s rate. In other words, if our incidence rate grew to match China’s before leveling off, we would get to about 20,000 cases. There have been at least 34 million infected with normal seasonal flu this year, 350,000 hospitalizations, and 20,000 deaths.
Every league is now in a virtue signalling race to give the appearance of concern. The over reaction is mind boggling.just hand out surgical masks with the MLB home teams logo on it and get on with the season. Better still sell them for a buck and donate the proceeds to flu vaccine research.
before you write off Molina because he’s 37 years old, remember that Carlton Fisk had 37 HR’s and 107 RBI’s at age 37 and went on to hit 105 HR’s and 391 RBI’s over his next 6 seasons. Pretty decent catcher too.
people who eat squash & seaweed sticks don’t live longer…it just seems longer.
Is there any chance the Cubs made this deal so that the Giants would be less inclined to trade one of their lefty relievers to the Cardinals?

Kimbrel looks really good now, doesn’t he!
Those 18 wins from last year are getting more expensive by the day.
what a way to blow an easy win…with 2 lefties in the 9th why wasn’t Miller in there?
Luke Voit 9 home runs 27 RBI .278 BA .371 OBP .556 SLG .938 OPS – salary $573 K
Paul Goldschmidt 9 hr 19 RBI .254 BA .338 OBP .492 SLG .830 OPS – salary $14.5 mil ($26 mil next 5)
