KeepComingBackParticipantI think it’s kaka that a 30 year old guy who has been playing pro ball in another country is eligible for Roy in MLB
KeepComingBackParticipantdid. Sutcliffe was another guy
I played little league against Sutcliffe in Independence. My recollections are not happy ones.
KeepComingBackParticipant“Fernandomania”
Memba Fernandos 5 game Cards career Dom? Now mind you, I have to think hard about what happened yesterday. Yet I can recall Fernando closing out his run in 1997 in StLouis.
KeepComingBackParticipantYou are right Albert he toe it up his last year in AAA. But he has to maintain his current ML #’s to keep him in the everyday. And I mean what we’ve seen the last few weeks. Otherwise he’s just a bench guy.
KeepComingBackParticipantRBK I don’t think he is ever going to walk a lot. Neither will he K a lot. When I say he’s been more selective, maybe I really should have said smarter. Adjusting to counts and game situations. Knowing where he’s being positioned to hit it. I haven’t looked it up but I think he’s finally seeing more pitches per ab. Like Mike Shannon used to say-hit where they ain’t.
KeepComingBackParticipantExactly RBK- Just ask yourself if that BABIP # is sustainable. Or if a guy is going bad,is it unreasonably low. As far as Burleson, of course his BABIP is high right now and inevitably will come down. But I’ve always liked his bat to ball skills. That’s the liking to watch the guy play thing I was talking about. Burleson periphial numbers have all improved because he’s being more selective at what he swings at. Simple as that. What I didn’t like was anything else having to do with baseball and Burleson. But he’s shown enough improvement to justify seeing him in left field sometimes. Not all the time.
KeepComingBackParticipantRBK I’m not a total metrics and anylitics geek. I like watching the guys actually play. But I dabble. That BABIP stuff has merit when you are deciding if a guy is in a slump or if a guy is just hot.

KeepComingBackParticipantBurleson has always had a nice swing. It’s just that he never met a strike he didn’t like. His improvement is because he’s become more selective. Simple as that. Plate discipline. Now he seems to have some.
Burly minor league carrer .300 avg 850 OPS. So I’m guessing a certain poster isn’t the only person aware of his offensive potential. Only problem was no one seemed to be aware of how truly horrid his defense was. I give him a lot of credit. He’s made major improvement the last year plus. I’m sure it didn’t come thru osmosis. And yes, Dom, I think he’s ready for the 3 hole.
KeepComingBackParticipantdare I say, pusillanimous.

PostsI had to laugh. Your vocabulary is clearly superior to mine. But it still means what I was thinking.
KeepComingBackParticipantWhen your third and fourth guys in the lineup aren’t producing, it’s broke. How many 3 run bombs do you think you are going to get from Siani?
KeepComingBackParticipantThe 3 and 4 havnt contributed diddly since 2022. We seriously have to at least move Goldy downnnnn. Move Winn up. Move Burly farther up. Until Contreras geta back I would go Winn Donovan Noot Burly Arenado. Or something like that separating Arenado and Goldy.
KeepComingBackParticipantAny serious thoughts about playoffs would have to include pitching help at the deadline. If their offense continues on an upward trajectory, i see them as a wildcard. I’m not sure that’s best for us longterm. But they would have to be buyers or face total mutiny from their already tenuous fanbase.
KeepComingBackParticipantbreaks through the .600 OPS barrier before Goldschmidt does…
It pains me to watch. I mean that with empathy for a great guy.
KeepComingBackParticipantlike the style of the unis, but I would like them to be a little more different. I also don’t like The Lou. Pardon me I’m going to the loo(u)
I hate it when people refer to it as the Lou.
KeepComingBackParticipantI cant tell you how much I enjoyed Fredo schilling the viewing audience for the new unis. Gross.
KeepComingBackParticipantI followed the o’s pretty closely years ago. Loved B Rob. And all the great pitching. Loved the big Boogy man. Earl was 1 of a kind.
KeepComingBackParticipantI have profound hearing loss. Unless there’s cc video no bueno.
KeepComingBackParticipantThere’s a difference in fans being frustrated and revenue dollars clearly flying out the door. It feels like the end is near. It’s hard to get fans back once they’re done. DeWitt knows that.

KeepComingBackParticipantSo who’s idea was it to stop trying to hit 3 run homers with nobody on, work counts, go the other way, hit it where it’s pitched?

KeepComingBackParticipantGreat to see the fans having fun!
KeepComingBackParticipantYou are right about Dusty Blake. But the game has changed. It’s not just a Cardinals thing. Metrics and anylitics play a large role in every teams strategy. I been watching or listening to pretty much every Cardinals game, plus reading and discussion, for 57 years. Embrace the game the way its played today or whine about the good old days and the “eye test”. But you aren’t going to make it go away. Read some information and study the new metrics. You might be surprised and enjoy the challenge of viewing the game from a different set of statistics than we did when we were kids.
KeepComingBackParticipantSure glad Siani is playing respectably. Scott can’t hit aaa not going to be ready any time soon. I don’t expect Tommy either.
KeepComingBackParticipantYea Goldy. That beats a garbage time Homer any day.
KeepComingBackParticipantI meant the Angels. I suggest we sit back for now and see how things look at the end of the homestand. Then talk about who is doing what.
Yep. If they don’t bring it all together, I’m afraid it’s the end of the road for this management group and veteran players. It should be.
KeepComingBackParticipantWhen did we play Oakland Bling? And I mean they hit well enough IF the guys who are being paid to carry the team at least pitch in a little. They aren’t at the present time.
