Arenado’s 4th HR is his first of the season off a LHP. He’s punished lefties his entire career. At any rate, I think Arenado and Goldschmidt are both still capable of ripping 10 to 15 HR’s in the span of a month.

What Winn is doing nightly looks sustainable to me. One-third of the season is an advantage if/when others fall off their pace. TBD.
    Thanks LACF

I looked at a sports book that had position players, Busch, A. Pages and J. Ortiz ahead of Winn for NL ROY. Winn outclasses all three in performance so far.

There’s quite a few pitchers in the running for NL ROY, but they’re difficult to gauge against a position player. Particularly one that plays SS or C. At any rate, unless he implodes, the Shogun guy’s probably going to receive the award.

Have the game dialed up on my tablet while having dinner on the patio. Unlike much of the country our weather is almost perfect.

Oh, and din-din is BBQ chicken, mashed taters, corn on the cob, baked beans, and a roll. Lots of fresh water to drink. This is a good meal to have with a beer, but we were at my brother-in-law’s yesterday and he is a home brewer, so he was having me sample beers quite a lot. I am “beered out” for awhile. 😀

1TD, no disrespect to how good Winn has been playing, but Joey Ortiz has been better so far and would win the RoY at this point if Shoto weren’t a rookie.

Gorman on 0-2 versus the lefty! And now Donovan (“Donny” as they call him on the broadcast) doubles off the lefty, and takes third on the bobble.

Well, that improves Gorman’s numbers vs LH pitching

Maybe that O/U on Gorman’s K’s should have been RBIs

Two run tater for Gorman! He annihilated that pitch from the lefty.

Gorman didn’t cool off, just been a bunch of lefties lately. HA!

Great work getting that sixth run in. Hope “Donny” is not injured.

Not a good AB from Herrera. That first pitch was a perfect one to go to right field on. Sometimes you gotta jump on that first one if it is there

That’s your opinion. Winn has been hitting in lower part of the order so has had fewer opportunities to maximize his hits into rbis and higher OPS. Winn plays a tougher position and therefore has a higher war.

Compare the stats. Ortiz wouldn’t win

Yeah, LA, Ortiz has a slight edge in OBP and RBI’s, but Winn’s got him beat in BA, H’s and runs scored. It’s a long season. Siani’s liable to win it before it’s all over…Haha!

I bet Burly remembers the BB, to get to him, not that out w/sacks full.

Ortiz has a higher WAR according to Fangraphs since they use OAA. His triple slash is better as well. Ortiz would also be the SS for the Brewers if Adames weren’t a really good glove. He will probably suit up as their Opening Day SS next year.

    Ortiz .278/.376/.492 with 1.4 fWAR and 147 wRC+
    Winn .300/.353/.433 with 1.1 fWAR and 125 wRC+

We have had almost no “easy” games this season where we won by 4 or more runs. How many? Well, more than I expected at 5 times. But still not a lot. 3 of those 5 have come during our current hot streak. We have yet to win a game by more than 5 runs all season.

I remember reading Ortiz has a good glove, and it is better than I recall. MLB pipeline had him at 65 and Fangepahs 70. Winn is at 60 and 50 respectively, but with a much, much better arm.
