Knizner #6.What the hell does he have to do to get voted on here? I like Montero too but Montero is still 2/3 years away from Stlouis and Knizner has hit every level and is working on his defense at a more demanding position .I understand people being dazzled by Montero`s numbers but Knizner can hit also.To each his own.
I like Kelly also but I wont vote for him because I dont consider him eligible. My opinion.Same reason I didnt vote for ONeill and I am a big O`Neill backer.Did Hicks channel his inner “Nuke LaLoosh ” tonite.
I glady will eat crow.Waino fooled a lot of people tonite..especially the Dodgers.Damn glad to see it.
Very nice game for Waino. The old flim flam junkballer fooled them tonite.Glad to eat crow about his performance. Now just hope the bullpen can survive .
So far Wainos smoke and mirrors and junkball pitching has worked .85 pitches after 5 innings is time to get the pen ready.Let’s see some more offense to add to the lead.
Anybody seen Tyler O`Neill? Shildt forgot TO was on the roster I guess.IMHO starting Waino is a huge mistake.I hope I am wrong the LAD bats have been on fire and that junkball crap Waino throws worries the hell out of me.
I disagree about if the Cards don
t make the playoffs " the improvement " will be for naught. How can improvement be for naught if it is a positive step in the right direction.Sometimes it isnt always instant gratification in baseball.Sometimes your best just is a little short because another team was hotter or luckier or less affected by injury etc;.If I recall correctly the 1963 Cards made a late pennant push trying to catch the LAD and the Dodgers whipped them and the Cards finished 6 gsames out.Stan the Mans final season. We all know what happened in 1964.Making a couple of smart additions and getting some better health can help get this ship right again. This Cards team is the youngest of all MLB teams in playoff contention and overall the Cards are the 5th youngest team in all MLB.typo Shildt as manager 34-22.My bad.Sorry.
IMHO the handwringing and “buyers remorse” over signing Schildt to a extension is utter nonsense.Sure he has had a few head shaaer moments and like Saturdays game ( 17-4) nothing you try seems to work. But overall the team is 54-22 with him as manager and although several players have hit the wall and faltered badly lately (Carpenter,Jmart ,Molina etc) and some rookies have shown rookie inconsitencies(SP) Bader,Gomber, Gomber,Hudson,) this team is still hanging in contention. The Cards ran into a Red hot LAD teams that seems unable to screw up right now.My only complaint is Shildt seems to stick with some guys too long and fails to completely use all his options ( sticking with a obviously fatigued Molina and JMart instead of giving O
Neill or Munoz playing time in RF and using Kelly instead of Pena ) I cant fault Schildt for Weavers complete meltdown this season or too many pitchers nibbling instead of attacking hitters.Schilt and Maddux are trying ti stay in the race using 2 rookie SPs and a makeshift bullpen full of rookie, vets coming off injuries and underperforming vets.No team has had more injury issues than the Cards this year.Cards lost Molina for a month or so.Wong for weeks,Gyorko for weeks,DeJong for month,Cmartinez,Alex Reyes,Gregerson,Bowman,Wainwright,Leone,Wacha for months.that 4/5 of your projected Starting rotations and 3 guys projected to be bullpen fixtures. All in all coming back into contention under Shildt has been quite remarkable and whatever the final outcome I see no reason to not be excited for the future with all the young talent getting big league experience .Blaming Shildt is wrong IMHO.The team is still 34-22 with him as manager. Beats the hell out of 47-46 under MM.Sure Shildt is having growing pains … some rookies are hitting the wall and some vets are failing to play their usual levels. The Cards are the youngest team in playoff contention and no other team in contention has had the injury issues as the Cards have had.The Cards are hanging in contention with 3 rookie SP,a injury riddled bullpen. It `s not over yet.
I see Shildt going to sink or swim with JMart………..crazy IMHO.

September 11, 2018 at 10:07 am in reply to: Who Is Your #5 Starter/Starters The Rest of the Way? #68999I really wonder about Wainwright being effective in any role besides long man /mop up.Sure he had a couple decent innings but otherwise he wasn`t fooling anybody.love his grit and heart but I have doubts if the arm is willing and able.Shildt and Maddux will have to walk a tightrope with this rotation for the rest of the year.
Mikolas
Flaherty,Gomber,Gant,Poncedeleon,Wainwright,Weaver?,Tyson Ross ?Knizner #3.
Gant has been sneaky solid for the Cards this season.Underrated pitcher who has saved the Cards bacon quite often this year as a starter and out of the bullpen.Kelly finally gets a chance and foes well.Good win.Nice to not have any 9th inning drama.
Nyquis is right. It used to be one could see kids playing pickup games or playing catch in the park or empty lots or in the yard. Not anymore.Kids would rather play video games and listen to crap rap music instead of going outside. When i was a kid 1950
s early 60s) inside the house was the last place my brother and i wanted to be.Everyone worries about obesity in kuids and yet the first thing schools cut out is Physical education where the kids actually get out and do something besides sit on theirt butt.Nonsense.What changed the mojo was Bullpen failures,JMart,Ozuna,Carpenter all failing at the same time.Pitchers inability to throw strikes.Naming a damn interim manager to regular manager did not make the Cards go 5-5 the last 10 games.Grasping at straws people.
Someone put a APB out on Tyler O’Neill.Seems like Shildt channeling his inner Matheny with some guys.I have said many times.O’Neill is not a freaking Pinch hit type.He had always been a regular and needs regular playing time.So complaining because he isn’t Smokey Burgess or Jerry Lynch is crazy.
Hudson #2
I would like to see Wisdom stick on the 40-man roster and drop someone else.I know its a short sample size (most September stats are) but Wisdom has done well in his chances.3 HRs and solid defense .Why not a bench role next season.Adams will likely be gone.Wisdom can be a RH 1B-3B-PH option.I would think hat Pena,Cecil,Bowman,Webb,Greg Garcia,Ross will be gone or considered for trade.Ross,Adams, gone FA
With Jmarts funk why isn
t ONeill getting some starts.I say time and time again…ONeill needs to play ...he isnt a Pinch-hitter.It is truly amazing how nearly every Cards pitchers suddenly has lost the ability to throw strikes.Even Mikolas has had control issues lately. Also this team really misses Kolten Wongs defense.Yesterday was like a early spring training game.Nobody could find the strike zone or play defense and hits where everywhere.
I didn
t vote ONeill because he will lose his eligibility here before the season is over once Shildt realizes JMart has hit a wall and needs rest.Going with Dakota Hudson #1.Andrew Knizner #2.Hudson because he has preformed at the MLB level and is still under the innings limit.Knizner at #2 because he he has hit at every level and has proven to be adequate catching.Knizner should be starting at Memphis next season and see STLouis sometime next season.Alex Reyes not a consideration because he can
t stay healthy enough to perform.Love the potential but you cant play from the training room or Doctors office. -
