Did you take grenadier1 changing his vote from Gorman to O’Neill? Or add thejagers absentee vote from Belgium?
Pads, Yep I got the Grenadier change. Thejager asked to put O’Neill#2 – Hudson#3 – Gorman#4 – Knizner#5. So I would guess that his 3rd round pick should be O’Neill, but you can do the math. I didn’t include that Belgian pending selection. Its your decision.
Not to sound picky, but I’m raising an objection. I feel that no absentee votes should be accepted from foreign countries which are not members of NATO. It stands to reason that Jags should just have to wait……unless he has Nunez on his mind of course.
No, PugsleyAddams. No direct proof of kinship with Ty Cobb. Though I am a native South Carolinian, my forebearers on the Cobb side are from North Carolina. According to biographer Charles Leerhsen,
Ty’s immediate ancestors were from N.C. also. His book, by the way, is great. Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty. I highly recommend it.Being a South Carolinian, my all-time favorite player is Shoeless Joe Jackson. But Ty Cobb is in my top five also.
Lastly, I appreciate your support for Malcom Nunez. i watched his tape. Very exciting.
There might not be direct proof, but if I were a betting man, I would bet half the ranch that you and Ty inhabit the same family tree in some fashion….and how cool is that, Robert! Thanks for the book suggestion….I will have the wife order it on Amazon tonight. Glad to hear you’re bullish on Malcom too, Robert! I place him so high on the list because he has a legitimate chance to be one of those players who come around this game every decade or two. I do not intend to begrudge our other marvelous top prospects by keep calling Nunez’ name. I just believe his ceiling reaches unparalleled levels.
Gorman’s power potential is exciting. Sending him to Peoria was a bit too aggressive in my book, but hey, the Cardinals brain trust is doing quite fine without my opinion. Obviously, at 18 years, Nolan was too good for Johnson City. Let’s develop that defence and maybe we’ll have another Scott Rolen on our hands.
# 4 = Nolan Gorman
#4 Gorman. He is among a new young crop of hitters. I assume he returns to Peoria, but I think he won’t be there long in 2019. Really looking forward to next years Peoria team.
Gorman is #4. His dominance at Johnson City and decent debut at Peoria portend good things. He could be a real star.
#4 Nolan Gorman. Probably my favorite prospect to track this year along with Malcom Nunez. Power was as advertised, but did a great job in the Appy League with plate discipline, which I believe translated to a better than advertised hit tool. That didn’t seem to follow him to Peoria, but he seems to have the work ethic to continue to develop. The only thing keeping Gorman and Nunez down the list for me is being so far away from the majors. To paraphrase a Keith Law saying, ‘that’s what stars look like at that age.’
I have to go with Gorman as well. He’s definitely not in the top 3 with the 3 guys we have who already look like stars playing at the ML level, but he’d be the one to supplant one of them.
Then you have Elehuris Montero who is an age-approriate prospect putting up a 157 wRC+ at Peoria and a 110 wRC+ at Palm Beach.
I like Carson Kelly a lot too. I don’t personally think Knizner has passed him yet. I have them both very high as catching prospects go.
