Old school is cool school. Some things about being cool never change though, such as these basics for our young posters:
1. NEVER wear a jersey with the name of someone other than your own name (and even your own name raises questions) gracing it’s back, UNLESS you are a girl/lady, under age 15 or are a complete and utter nerd.
2. NEVER grab a steaming cup of hot coffee by it’s handle while in public. Take the pain! And look cool doing it. Grabbing the handle in the comfort of your own home in front of your wife of 30 years is perfectly acceptable.
3. NEVER EVER drink from a straw in public. Especially at restaurants and God forbid if you ever do it in a bar while on the prowl for a nice female.
4. NEVER swear in public or private…..it’s just not cool.
5. NEVER send flowers to your significant other at her place of work, especially on major holidays such as Valentine’s Day. Especially in large office settings, think of all of the ladies who may recently have been jilted in romance or had their husband pass away.

Parents today just go with the flow, living in their children’s lives to stay young.
Not everyone! I will say that I watched some old Adam Sandler movies the other day and just didn’t find them funny at all. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and Big Daddy. I never thought I would say that!

I have a Bo Hart jersey and I refuse to not wear it when I go to a game.

What’s the reason for this? So you drink out of the glass at a restaurant even whent they put the straws out?

I thought you were going to say ‘with someone else’s name on it.’ Haha

ParticipantI’ll tell what old school is. It is passing empty baseball fields upon empty baseball fields in the Spring and Summer and wondering that it was not too long ago that they were full of youngsters playing baseball, and thinking to yourself where the heck are all the kids.
Where I live these days by this time of the year infields are being covered by weeds and some fields aren’t even mowed. And old school is remembering how many summer days you spent playing pickup baseball as a kid on the type of fields that you just don’t see around anymore.
The sad part is that this goes for adult baseball and softball fields also.
September 8, 2018 at 12:16 pm #68715Nyquis is right. It used to be one could see kids playing pickup games or playing catch in the park or empty lots or in the yard. Not anymore.Kids would rather play video games and listen to crap rap music instead of going outside. When i was a kid 1950
s early 60s) inside the house was the last place my brother and i wanted to be.Everyone worries about obesity in kuids and yet the first thing schools cut out is Physical education where the kids actually get out and do something besides sit on theirt butt.September 9, 2018 at 12:35 pm #6880914NyquisT
ParticipantBw52…. thanks for saying what I was thinking.
September 9, 2018 at 6:06 pm #68846Man I’m glad I’m only in my early 30s and haven’t gotten old and crotchety. Many of us here complained when Matheny made the club house toxic. Seems some of you would like to go back to that. No thanks.
I love the fun dugout. 162 game season is tiresome and draining. Furthermore, baseballs a game…its supposed to be fun.
