I would like to see how some of the Dominican dandies do in a higher classification before getting enthused about them.Same for all the younger kids in lower leagues.I do think Gorman will be legit and I think he held his own in a league were he was 3 years younger than the average age.He needs work on cutting the Ks as do most power hitting kids.I think Luken Baker (21) will be a fast rising player in the system.Elihuris Montero held his own in the tough FSL. in the month he was there.

Crap happens tp the best players.Crap happens .Its baseball.I think you have to dance with the one that brought you there.Cards cant let Norris lose his confidence completely. After all this is the same team that gave Fowler more chances and more chances and more chances……etc;Maybe like Brian said-maybe committee.Brebbia,Cmart,Norris,Hicks,Deleone might be able to hold the fort.

Gorman is playing against guys on the average 3 years older than him.Montero had several years of Pro ball experience. That said he kicked butt at age 19 mostly this season at Peoria so that means he was 2 years younger than the league average. What`s not to like.Cards have to feel good about 3B prospects coming up.
    Memphis 2019
    Tommie Edman 3B

    Springfield
    Evan Mendoza
    Andy Young

    Palm Beach

    Elihuris Montero
    Peoria
    Nolan Gorman

Would like to see the Cards find a way to keep Patrick Wisdom around.Since he has had some success at the MLB level(small sample size I know). One would think there is a role for players like him as a backup 3B-1B -PH.

So I guess that means Knizner goes to Memphis for their playoffs?

rosters expand tomorrow. So if Donaldson does get traded tonite before midnight do Cards have to make a move immediately before midnight

Always liked Pujols and it is kind of surprising to still read the hatred and venom some posters have about Pujols on Cards Talk.He made a money decision and while wanting him to be a lifetime Cardinal it is what it is.I hope if he comes back to play in 2019 he has a good season and wish him well. The days of guys staying with one team for a whole career are pretty much over IMHO.Game has changed and more teams are doing the farm system development with a FA or two to compliment rosters or fill a need that can`t be filled internally.

Grichuk has done a remarkable turnaround since the first 4-6 weeks he was hitting under .200 by a bunch.Grichuk is wha he is.Big power, solid defense ,bunch of strikeouts.I liked him as a Cardinal and wish him well.
I hope Budaska can help ONeill improve his plate discipline and he has helped him before.I think ONeill and DeJong are trying to do too much at the plate and not taking what is pitched and dealing with that.I think both can and will improve with experience……DeJong still has barely 200 MLB games experience and O`Neill is still a raw rookie.

Great to see Cards winning in spite of the injuries.
    Still there are some concerns
1.Tyler O`Neill seems to be going into one of his bad streaks and I hope Budaska can get him to just worry about contact instead of trying to hit a 5 run Homer every time. With his power the homeruns will happen naturally.
2.Hicks and Hudson and Shreve all having control issues.
3.Injuries,injuries,injuries……how many times can the Cards fight back with a depleted roster?
4.DeJong-i think his hand is obviously still having a effect on his game.I don`t think we see the good DeJong till next spring.
Kudos to the manager and coaches and the team for playing like it means something again.Nice to see most of the kids stepping up and some vets helping show the way.

I wonder if Gyorko`s injury is severe enough to sideline him for a extended time would the Cards consider another position player ( Edmundo Sosa or Justin Williams)?

Andrew Morales and Andy Young certainly upgraded their games this season.Lane TThomas has had a breakout season and stayed healthy.

Munoz is versatile but his glove work is a bit lagging.Maybe with more reps defensively he can improve. With better defense Munoz can be the “swiss army knife” replacing Greg Garcia next season.

Thomas could be a sleeper prospect. He is getting some good notices now because this is the first year he has actually been healthy and played full-time.Power and speed and good defense.Whats not to like? plus he just turned 23 at Memphis and is holding his own.I wouldnt be surprised if he leaves Adolis Garcia in the dust.

Maybe Munoz is too sore to play today.Plius who really wants to see Carpenter at 2B? Not me.It`s bad enough with Carp at 3B.

I wonder who will play 3B at Memphis next season if Wisdom is elsewhere (either Stlouis or ? ).Mendoza is still finding his footing at AA but he is supposed to be a very good defensive 3B ( Kenny Reitz type) who could possibly develop a little more offense as he get older.Still I think Memphis could get by with a defensive 3B who might possibly give you 5-8 HRs 50 RBIs and .260-.270 .

CC-why in the hell keep Pena and trade Kelly.Kelly is miles ahead of Pena defensively and Pena cant hit .Pena has been a 3rd catcher his entire career .Not knocking him but he is what he is.Kelly is a big step up over Pena. Its time for the Cards to give Kelly playing time when resting Molina and stop worrying about how Molina`s feelings.Pena is absolutely not threat to Molina.

IMHO I would figure out a way to keep these guys
Ryan Helsley RHP-young pitcher with big potential
    Genesis Cabrera LHP-LHP with potential
    Casey Meisner RHP-solid young RHP
Lane Thomas OF-young (23) kid who is finally healthy and showing power and speed and defense.
Ramon Urias INF-solid guy for INF
Max Schrock 2B-solid contact guy.Can fill a role.

So ONeill had a rough nite in the OF.I t seems like everybody has conveniently forgotten all the good catches has made lately.Looks like he is the whipping boy tonite.Get the tar and feathers and the pitchforks and torches.Cecil is out of the doghouse so it must be ONeills turn.

Hope like hell it`s a pitcher going back to Memphis…..14 freakin g damn pitchers would be beyond dumb.13 is already stupid IMHO.The bench is neglected to keep a pitcher or two who might pitch a inning or two a week.Enough .
