VS2 booted an easy oller off his toe in CF mid game. Kept the ball in front of him though. Got away with it. I am a less optimistic about his defense but his offense appears to be improving.
Believe He needs to play (start) again to determine his ceiling/floor.
The landscape has changed. Boras does NOT have the influence on the game, clubs, or players that he may have once had or wants everyone to believe he still does
High end players are ignoring him in droves.
Sonny Gray is good enough but expensive.
Ryan Helsley is an asset for a competitor. Use him to (wisely) build.
Keep an affordable Fedde to eat innings. Sell him at the trade deadline if it makes sense.They won’t be (or try to be) next year.
They should sell every expensive asset (most aren’t good) and try to build up organizational depth.
See what they’ve got.
And flush the Mo/Oli taste away after the year. It isn’t working at all.

Gray was pretty great today.
I see no clear reason for cutting Armstrong. After a decent stretch from him? Fine…bring up Riley….but cut hait on some expensive flotsam.
Carlson given away for free.
Pages appeared to pull a hamstring and gimp about after legging out a infield play late Sunday? Just a guess.
Tough to imagine the Cards overcoming this pitching match-up (and lineup). Stranger things have happened. I keep watching- hoping to find some glimmer of hope for the future (beyond Winn) and maybe if I’m honest, for the continued erosion of the poorly conceived roster.
Looks like it has to get worse before it gets better.
I am concerned that with the descent into mediocrity, that talent (on and of field) won’t want to come here.
And ownership doesn’t pay top talent $$$. They sell the “tradition and baseball heaven” line. Puh-lease.90. Absolutely not happening.

Other than Winn and Burleson’s breakout years, this season is completely unremarkable.
