Doubt Stubby would be as compliant as Oli. He might too, have had philosophical differences.

    An aside:

Whatever the philosophical differences between Shildt and the FO were, it appears Shildt was right.

Mistake to move on due to someone with a bowtie having thin skin.

It would be nice if Burleson quit slapping at pitches deep in the zone. It prevents strikeouts but Results in weak contact.

For a big guy, with no true position, he needs to drive the ball to stay in the Majors very long.

He does have offensive ability. Would like to see some power out of his bat. Hope he has a good year.

Great breakdown Cranny. Feel like he has earned the job. If he goes north, runs with it, they can figure out something for TE when he comes back.

Like others, I believe he needs to play everyday for a move to the MLB to make sense developmentally.

I HOPE the team doesn’t hold him back to manipulate service time. Don’t sense that’s an angle they employ.

What may be so evident to you, unfortunately isn’t translating well to some fans. If you could better flesh-out, or limit your some of your immediate impressions until better formed, I think that would be helpful.

I don’t disagree with you on the possible potential of these guys.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on C. Prieto?

Why so long with no progression in the Minors? Looks like he can hit, but he’s stuck positionally ? Anything to add here?

Forgot about that! Good news for him. Thanks for easing my mind.

So Brendan Donovan ineligible today? Hoping that’s just a scheduled day off? Would appreciate any insight on this.

In the interest of civility Shady, I agree that these 3 are interesting PROSPECTS. Scott may have a situational path to the Major league squad shortly, but hasn’t even played at AAA yet. His skill set is unique. We’ll see.

Saggese looks like a nice pickup who is probably blocked with the depth of middle infielders.

Prieto hits but not much else. Lots of 2nd basemen now.

Hopefully they develop, but serious discussion of their future on the Cards MLB roster seems premature/redundant now.

Based on his major league history of inconsistency, his typically flat pitch plane and high WHIP , I really don’t see Drew Rom as ready to take over a starting role as a MLB starter on a contending team. He likely needs more time in the minors to work on his command.

Clearly, he is a big, strong lefty who just needs more seasoning to see if he pans out. A few short, infrequent good outings suggest his upside is just “hope” at this time.

Unforced error by the front office. No real need to extend him now given last season.

I concur that there were too many issues to correctly evaluate Marmol. But he did nothing to make things better (threw players under the bus to the press).

An extension now was unnecessary, simply provides cover. If the FO was confident in his leadership, why did they feel compelled to sign SO much past-prime “talent” to buttress that in the clubhouse?

    Don’t get it?

Is Drew Rom what we saw yesterday? That poor outing seems more consistent with his MLB history. Hope he can coral those good moments moving forward.
