Exactly. No joking. With the holes in the lineup, inconsistent play from PG and NA, injury of Contreras, Burly has to hit for the Cards to stay relevant.
Yeah, one of them has to go on a rampage at some point this season if the Cardinals are going to pretend to be good team. If both of them get underway and simultaneously go on a rampage, they will be a good team.
Start this weekend. Sweep the Cubs and never look back at 500. Bury the rest of the division. 1 game a week on the Blowers. Your in first by the trade deadline. But the rest of the offense has to trend up like Donovan. Noot and Contreras have to hit the ground 🏃♂️running. It’s possible, but has to be a team effort.
Donovan’s been swinging the bat well for the last 15 games or so and is well on the way to putting together a solid season. Obviously, Contreras will be a boost when he returns, and I’ll remain out on a limb and guess that when this season’s in the books both Goldschmidt and Arenado will look something similar to .270/25/85.
