Burly out of the field tonight after beefing the game in RF in the 9th.

    Good.

    Get him off his feet.

Many stats can easily be found by using the freely available “Google” and “Bing” search functions. Astute posters can often “self check” their own impressions or eye-tests against FACTS.

Hard to teach an old dog new tricks but improvement, even incremental is possible.

I’d also like a photo-montage, personal interest stuff: his diet, movie reviews, workout routine, his rap music influences, etc.

I know I am not the only one.

Suggesting a “All Things Burly” thread. Clearly I am not senior enough here to just do that, but isn’t a all-inclusive “Burly” thread appropriate for the future face and hope of the MLB?

Burleson hitting 1-9, for every MLB team.

    Sorry Soto and Betts.

Clearly, Oli doesn’t trust “Burly” in the field today.

Sorry that you find it necessary to personalize each of my posts.

I don’t agree with your assessments here but you are most welcome to opine regardless of factual backup.

I am hopeful the Cardinals can find lower cost prospects to fill high value slots. But given the front offices’ recent record I find that unlikely as a successful business model.

Additionally, constantly asking/forcing players to slide into defensive positions they are unaccustomed to….has led to a serious regression in the teams previously elite defense the past few (post Shildt) years.

Saggese? .225 in AAA. With a 692 ops? And that profiles as a MLB first baseman how?

There is a complete basic misunderstanding of MLB positional performance requirements/expectations by some here.

    Concur Bling.

Some here tend to overvalue/hype prospects.

Point of order. I wasn’t speaking to you or about Burleson. Enjoy your evening. You have much to learn about baseball. Good luck on your quest.

They did with Fowler but they waited until the final year of the contract to do it. Moving Arenado would be much more difficult. I don’t see Mo having the energy to take on that task. His front office usually prefers the path of least resistance.

You are of course correct they ate around $15million as a gift to the Angels. Think he got hurt early and disappeared. Can’t think of another significant time.

Was trying to make Shady do own his homework and back up his often questionable (pointless, endless)utterances. Have suggested Google, MLB Reference, SpotTrac etc. Probably a waste of energy.

I don’t disagree that NA shouldn’t be moved for depth. But his value is LOW and he is costly. Has years left on an expensive contract.

Do not believe it is in this FO’s DNA to pay him/trade partner $15-20million yearly to play for another team. It would take that. And the change of scenery to a real contender could be beneficial for him. Doubt it happens or that the Cards would gain much.

I believe he is a perfectionist doing everything he can to turn it around. That perfectionism can be counter-productive. He’ll never be 27 again. Would guess he’ll improve offensively for stretches. Hope for a better outcome for him and the team, but find him being moved (which would be his decision) unlikely. Too much going against it.

He should be in Springfield like Shady says. That bomb he hit deep into the left field box seats was unnecessary.
