Any thoughts on Hence dropping to Springfield rather than Memphis?

Two takes from me. One is that the Memphis starting rotation is going to be packed full and there may not be a spot for Hence yet. The other is that it just doesn’t matter right now. Perhaps it said that just because that’s where he came from. They are still sorting out the minor league levels.

The last couple seasons I’ve tried to guess at who the 6 starters will be at every level. This year is really tough with all the new guys and no openings to put them in. I may still try it in a few days though.

Agree with jnevel. How Hence pitches the next two or three weeks will have a lot to say about where he opens the season. Better to get him in minor league camp now as he is not ready for MLB.

Some random thoughts so far this spring…

I don’t know what they’re going to do with Gorman, but I see Saggese as our starting second baseman by mid-season.

I don’t know what to think about Walker except that I thought he was going to be a star player. Someone said that Walker looks like a linebacker and I agree with that. But can he put the bat on the Ball?

I love Siani’s defense. His offense was improving consistently from month to month in 2024. He’s having a horrible spring and, at this point, I’m thinking that he will have to hit at Memphis and then wait for a reason to be needed to play CF again in St. Louis. Too bad.

Baker will probably get stashed on Memphis’ roster as protection in case something happens to Contreras. Me deserves to be a regular major league DH, IMO.

We can see what Victor Scott looks like now. But what will he look like by the end of spring training?

I get the impression that Nootbaar took the offseason off.

I watched Barrero today in the game against Washington. I know he has hit two HR this spring. But watching him today I thought he didn’t have the slightest idea of where the ball was when he was swinging the bat.

Practically nobody thought this team would be competitive in 2025. But if Walker can hit and if Scott can be good in centerfield, this could be a fun year.

Just remember that Boog Powell always had to ‘play himself into shape’ during Spring training.

Are this years version of the Cardinals heroes or zeros? We don’t have all that long to find out.

Chip Carsy talks like Pallante is still learning how to pitch. I think he’s a regular starter. It’s fun watching Winn throw. It makesfans feel like they’re king of the hill.

Liberatore, Romero, leahy, O’Brien, Munoz and Fernandez have been strong this spring so far out of the pen.

I think Liberatore is interesting if they could dump Matz, I may give him another shot as a starter, but they may not want to mess with him since he has had success out of the bullpen.

It was when he was returning to starting that apparently he didn’t know how to properly prepare between starts. Kyle Gibson was the one that had to show him how. Would it honestly shock you if he didn’t have things to work on still?

Victor looked really good on defense today. McGreevy looked good as well while Pallante did not. His fastball was flat and he was missing in the the middle of the zone. Jojo and Roycroft have looked good all spring and hopefully that carries over to the season. I specifically think Jojo lost steam late July last year and hopefully he can hold up.

It was great to see signs of life from the offense. I know spring stats don’t matter, but I want Gorman to have some success and gain some confidence as a lack of confidence has been one of his issues in the past.

VS2 booted an easy oller off his toe in CF mid game. Kept the ball in front of him though. Got away with it. I am a less optimistic about his defense but his offense appears to be improving.

Believe He needs to play (start) again to determine his ceiling/floor.

We did see a lineup where Noot was in CF and VS3 was in a corner spot. Idk if there’s anything to read into that.

There is no reading involved. If Noot is in CF, we don’t have any corner outfielers.

Spring Training is the place to try out things. Management probably wanted to see how Noot looked in center and Victor in a corner, as during the season they may need to play those places in the course of a game.

At the game tonight as a fan with friends. In the real front row (not the Uecker one).

I don’t see you Brian, but I do see the Mad Hungarian Al Hrabosky!

Those are amazing seats. Enjoy the game. Hopefully you can get a great look at the pitcher’s stuff from those seats.

Not exactly Front Row Amy, but nice pic of BW enjoying the game.

I’ve liked the way Koperniak is playing this spring.

We still don’t know if Walker can hit, or if he will wind up getting traded to the NFL.

Breakout player of the year, Chase Davis, is lurking in the shadows.

I wonder why they call it Fanduel? Is it somehow connected to the legalized baseball gambling syndicate? At any rate, it took me a little while to find it on our TV system. It’s channel #1748 and they call it “Fanduel Midwest” in the StL. area. Sounds a little silly to me.

FanDuel started as a fantasy league service and has exploded from there.
