This is a head scratcher for me. I know when right he can be a good lefthanded bullpen arm. Hopefully by some miracle he passes through but you look at those career numbers and a contender might not think twice before the deadline.

Giancarlo Stanton doesn’t fix the Rotation and bullpen issues surrounding this team. That’s too much to ask this ownership to Pay Lynn over 20 million a year and take on most of Stanton’s contract even with the Oprah rich TV deal they’ll walk into. Even then it’s a shaky situation with your pen and having Waino and Wacha being your 3-4 and likely looking internally for a closer.
My guess is they seriously look at a band aid with Donaldson at 3rd via trade and sign Lynn and hope Alex Reyes can solve the closer issue. I’d also bet on Piscotty or Grichuk being jettisoned somewhere.
Alcantara and Montgomery.
They wont make a move until September 1st. We will be basically out of it by then.
Like Walton has said this organization lacks a true power/run producer. You can point to Dejong all you want but lets see how this plays out with him next season. I am skeptical due to how a lot of our prospects crash and burn a year or two later
Cardinals will hope O’Neil is a savior but how much can you trust a guy who can’t even hit .250. I mean unless he’s the next Adam Dunn you can’t rely on him to be that guy.
I’ll be honest and Say a rental like Donaldson for the right price is right up this ownerships alley. Not too much to commit and nothing we can’t lose in prospects.
It was a good piece of hitting by Keirmaier. Carpenter needs to put a glove on that ball.
They need another clubhouse meeting or maybe a chupacabra can run onto the field.
Either way it’s going to suck when San Diego sweeps us out of this thing for good.

Internally I agree it could be Wacha or Alex Reyes. Reyes hasn’t really thrown a ton of innings in the minors and I feel were asking too much of him to come of TJ and deliver 175 innings. Wacha on the otherhand likely was bullpen bound if it wasn’t for the Reyes injury.
In a perfect world you’d trade for Donaldson and sign Davis but they’ll likely do nothing.
Unless they can throw together another 7-8 game winning streak they’re done. Anyone want to bet on that with this pitching.

He can’t close and can’t pitch the 8th and it appears can’t pitch the 7th either.
I too would like to see Flaherty, Montgomery and Alcantara but it appears like the deadline and waiver deadline the Cardinals just don’t want to do anything right now. They’ll be forced to make a move on the 40 man if Jack is added for Saturday. Who gets bumped?
Idk man! In a sense I could understand why the brass just decided to stand pat at the deadline and let this play out. Then the team got to 8 in a row and they likely regretted not making a move but more or less just have a feeling on where this is going. They made this roster and if they finish .500 then it’s likely where they saw this team after May and if they defied the odds and made the playoffs their the smartest guys in the room.
The Brain trust want another year to prove that they’re the smartest people in the room. While not spending any money or prospects to make something happen.
I think some of our players just want to impress some kids or see it as an A ball stadium and just want to tee off.

They’ve gt no intention on making any moves and the pitching is falling apart. Even within striking distance of a WC just last Saturday they don’t seem to care.
This game isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered.
You know what I want to see? A player go in a profanity laced tirade at the home plate ump and get tossed. It’s would surely be the end of this fiasco.
If you’re the ownership and have seen the way things have gone down recently. How can you not make a waiver claim for a bullpen arm? I refuse to believe he bowtie can’t get something done.
