Do you think they’d consider DFA Oh?

He can’t close and can’t pitch the 8th and it appears can’t pitch the 7th either.

Who closes next season? You’d think they’d be a player in the Wade Davis sweepstakes now.

I too would like to see Flaherty, Montgomery and Alcantara but it appears like the deadline and waiver deadline the Cardinals just don’t want to do anything right now. They’ll be forced to make a move on the 40 man if Jack is added for Saturday. Who gets bumped?

Idk man! In a sense I could understand why the brass just decided to stand pat at the deadline and let this play out. Then the team got to 8 in a row and they likely regretted not making a move but more or less just have a feeling on where this is going. They made this roster and if they finish .500 then it’s likely where they saw this team after May and if they defied the odds and made the playoffs their the smartest guys in the room.

The Brain trust want another year to prove that they’re the smartest people in the room. While not spending any money or prospects to make something happen.

I think some of our players just want to impress some kids or see it as an A ball stadium and just want to tee off.

    This team is finished!

They’ve gt no intention on making any moves and the pitching is falling apart. Even within striking distance of a WC just last Saturday they don’t seem to care.

This game isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered.

You know what I want to see? A player go in a profanity laced tirade at the home plate ump and get tossed. It’s would surely be the end of this fiasco.

If you’re the ownership and have seen the way things have gone down recently. How can you not make a waiver claim for a bullpen arm? I refuse to believe he bowtie can’t get something done.

Don’t worry rat. Alex Reyes might be the bullpen savior next season.

Did Cecil pitch yesterday? In a blowout why not throw him a couple innings and save Bowman or Brebbia. It’s Taylor made for his skill set.

Can Jedd play 2 games in a row? I hope if he can this is the lineup.

    Carpenter
    Pham
    DeJong
Fowler_(He has hit well in the clean up spot)
    Gyorko
    Molina
    MArtinez-DH
    Grichuk
    Wong

I’d take a split in Beantown and 3-4 against Pittsburgh. Although a .500 trip is likely.

Well looking at this from a defensive side the issue is unless Upton Mashes us into the series and just puts up monster numbers. He’s not opting out of that deal. We’d almost surely have to deal an OF of the roster to accommodate him for one this season. So who goes between Pham, Grichuk and Martinez? Then there’s the issue of Dexter Fowler’s transition into LF. Which I’d imagine happens no later than 2019. Upton isn’t RF and his arm which was solid at the beginning of his career is losing strength and he’s not as agile as he once was. His best position LF and moving forward after his contract likely to the role of DH at some point.

Plus if you weren’t going to trade for Jay Bruce. You sure as heck aren’t trading for Upton. Bruce was a better fit due to his true position being RF, his bat being on a level of Upton and his arm being pretty good even though the defense is unspectacular. A true rental who would’ve cost you nothing but you’d still have to find a home for one of your OF’er on someones team.

I think it’s more of who would get moved we get Upton. They’d want to move someone out of OF.

This isn’t happening this year any way but dare to dream.

    Quote from the article.

You might notice that when I was talking about the Cardinals’ outfield depth I skipped over the slew of prospects currently inhabiting the Triple-A and Double-A outfields. That’s because, frankly, I don’t think any of them are significant enough to hold off making an upgrade.

Yeah it would’ve been hard to get a guy that can man a spot in the 8th in August.

I get that getting something of meaning is tough but it can be done.

Because Greg Garcia isn’t a run producer. He’s likes to work counts and walk a lot. When a pitch isn’t to his liking he tenses up and doesn’t swing at it.

We couldn’t win forever. Just stinks that we had to lose today and head to Boston. The level of comp IMO gets a bit higher.

I think carrying an extra bat would hurt this team more than help. Especially with Oh and Cecil doing what they do.

They really need an 8th inning type of guy.

    Pendleton was there.

I didn’t see clark announced on the 1 minute MLB TV clip. Was he?

You forget that Lance Johnson was a Cardinals but he’s more known as a White Sox. Where he lead the league in triples 4 times on the South Side. His best season was as a Met

Clark’s homer was 1985. He was MIA in 87 and his absence is likely the reason we lost the series to the Twins.
