6:10 p.m.
LHP Quinn Mathews (2-3, 3.65) vs. RHP Dustin May (7-9, 4.01)
Cards.TV // KMOXSeptember 25, 2026 at 10:07 pm #319647Be interesting to see May on the bump for the Brewers.
September 26, 2026 at 6:58 am #319653May is in a terrible stretch. Pulled after two innings last time out. 2-2, 5.61 in nine starts for the Brewers. So, he’ll probably throw a complete game shutout!

stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards at 77-83 are all but baked into having the 9th-13th worst record at this point. Right now they sit at 12th, but the Brewers are so good that they may move up the draft list before the season is up.
September 26, 2026 at 9:12 am #319658Cardinals may as well improve their draft position at this point.
Brewers are quite the organization for sure.
It feels like the Cardinals are so far behind that they’ll never catch up but we all know that isn’t true. Next season the Cardinals could be breathing down their necks and in ’28 the division might have a new boss.
September 26, 2026 at 9:15 am #319659On the other hand – look at the Pirates and Reds….ooof what drought those clubs have had.
September 26, 2026 at 10:15 am #319663Just hope nobody gets hurt these last two games. Then, in the old days, nothing would happen with teams not in post season until the WS is over, but I think that is no longer the case.
September 26, 2026 at 10:24 am #319667Mathews sort of replaced May in our rotation, so an interesing match-up here.
The Crew are a good regular season team, but have not tranlated that success to post season. I think their lack of power hurts their post season play, but would like to see them get to the NLCS this year, and would love it if they ran the table. Also I am good with the Padres winning it. In the AL I am for either the White Sox or Guardians.
It would be something in the AL if say the Rangers win the division at 81-81 or 80-82, and end up doing a “2006 Cardinals” and get to the Series.
September 26, 2026 at 11:28 am #319676If you’re curious about the rush to get draft lottery position…I’d not realized that ties are broken by previous year’s (2025) record. Cards can end up anywhere from 8th to 14th (except 10th, which is SF) heading into Saturday games. Currently they are at 12th. To move up, they need to lose both these last games. They would pass any of Detroit, Washington, or Minnesota that wins both their last games. They move down in order if they win both games and if Toronto or Baltimore loses out. The 8th place team has a 28.7% chance of a top 6 pick. 14th has a 9.3% chance. Cards are currently at 12.5%.
12 teams have won between 73 and 79 games. Not much separating them! And one of them, Houston, would win its division were the season to stop now!
September 26, 2026 at 1:06 pm #319678Thanks for the recap Gags. Its like March madness for also rans. I hope we play honorably but won’t cry if we lose.

CF N. Church LSeptember 26, 2026 at 5:00 pm #319684Hopefully this is the last hurrah for Gorman.
It’s been what, 4-5 years for him and he’s not really done anything except strikeout.
September 26, 2026 at 5:16 pm #319685A good glove and a homer a week would have allowed Chaim to get something for Gorman this winter ahead of his ARB2 salary, I mean season. But as it is there is no real value. His power has been declining for a couple years I think.
September 26, 2026 at 7:06 pm #319687Burleson just jacked another big dong. His 26th of the year. RBI #116.
Can he hang on and win the RBI title?
September 26, 2026 at 7:20 pm #319688Burleson’s pieced to together a first rate season. In addition to .280/26/116, he’s also appeared in 160 games, which I’d have to say is the best season coming from a Cardinal since Goldschmidt’s ’22 NL MVP season.
September 26, 2026 at 8:04 pm #319689The Indians are real close to clinching the ALC as they’re protecting a 7-3 lead in the visitor half of the 7th over the Royals in KC, while the White Sox trail the Rockies by a 5-2 score in the home half of the 6th in CHI. Meanwhile, Skippy’s Rangers place a 6-2 W into the books over the Twins in MN to apply the pressure on the Astros who play later at whatever location it is that the A’s call home.
September 26, 2026 at 8:39 pm #319690And, believe it or not, the D-Backs stand a good chance to lock into a tie with the Phillies for the final NLWC berth with a W over the Padres in SD. They currently lead their game by a 2-1 score heading to the home half of the 3rd, with the Phillies trailing the Rays by a 7-0 score heading to the visitor half of the 7th in PHI. I can hear the catcalls coming all the way from The Bank.
September 26, 2026 at 8:59 pm #319692Well, we got pretty good pitching. D was shaky a few times but good other times.
Burly did have a great year, but I wish he could be better vs lefties. There seemed to be some flashes and he did drive in 40 vs LHP, so there is hope. Up next his ARB 2 year.
September 26, 2026 at 9:21 pm #319693At 77-84 the Cardinals can duplicate last year’s 78-84 W/L record with a W tomorrow in the ’26 season finale. Last season they finished up 19 games off the pace behind the Brewers in the NLC, but ’26 will see them either 24 or 26 games off the pace at season’s end in a 5 team division. In my estimation, the hole they’re digging keeps getting deeper.

the darkest hour is just before dawn
September 27, 2026 at 8:29 am #319698Winn was scratched from the lineup due to lingering issues with his injured thumb.
Uh oh.
