Cards.TV // KMOXJust read where a really strong N’orEaster is about to hit the Northeast later in the week. That could impact the Cubs and Red Sox game at Boston. They may have to move that series to some other city.
Din-din today (Monday) is a couple of bakes potatoes, Allen’s Italian Green Beans, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream.
Not much action today. I suppose me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch late tonight to tune in to the Twins and Giants game from San Francisco.

Me too, as I usually have one for lun-lun( lunch ) on either Saturday or Sunday. If I haven’t previously thanked Scotty for the great suggestion, I’ve been terribly remiss……thanks Scotty! And Scotty isn’t the only din-din author who I’ve plagiarized over the years. I’ve swipped more than one Cardinal in France din-din revelation…..many more than one.
Glad to help Pugs! I must say that I never drive by Popeyes without thinking about your apple cinnamon pies. If only we had a Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse nearby.
For a Monday din-din absent baseball I threw together a macaroni and cheese with plenty of cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, sour cream and condensed milk. Adding a nice crunchy green salad with tomatoes and onions on the side and a little Haagen-dazs vanilla sprinkled with raspberries to finish.
Hope our birds are rested up for a final go at the Pirates tomorrow. Rah Cardinals!
Haha! You need to take the plunge and pick up a few of Popeye’s delish apple cinnamon pies, Scotty……with one warning. Do NOT buy just one, for if you do, you’ll find yourself heading right on back to get additional ones after taking your first bite. I’ve tried a zillion homemade apple pies and McDonald’s hideous apple pies, but none vaguely compare to Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies. If I were to skip din-din and instead eat another but Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies, I bet I could gobble up 35 of them with no problem……which conjures up a brilliant challenge. That perennial hot dog eating champion…….I want to say his name is Joey Chestnut. I hereby challenge Joey to a Popeye’s apple cinnamon pie eating contest and I’ll even spot him a 10 pie head start. Go Cardinals!
Not much baseball action on this Monday evening with only 3 games scheduled and none of them really holding any significance with the possible exception of the Blue Jays/Orioles at BAL with TOR protecting a 3-1 lead in the 5th. At least they both reside in the same division. My memory routinely fails me these days, but I seem to recall when almost all of the games played after the onset of Sept. were played between division rivals. Maybe that was at a time when there were only 2 divisions in each league. Not that it matters, but I’ll probably take “The ‘Ol Perfessors” suggestion and look it up…
Walker has hit 6 hrs since the ASB. How do we feel about him long term as a 15 hr per season player? Because that’s where he might end up settling in…

As for Walker, I was down on him for a long time and wanted him to join Gorman on a bus ride out of town. Then he seemed to turn things around and started to act like the hitter everybody wanted to see. He has cooled somewhat lately and despite continuing his addiction to chasing low outside pitches he has earned another season in St. Louis. The Cardinals are certainly not rebuilt yet but they’re certainly fun to watch more often than not.

Another 2-4 week (same as the prior two weeks) would leave them at 78-84, same as last year, albeit with a cheaper and younger roster.

According to the Doppler Radar there is alot of green stuff in and around the Pittsburgh area. No way at this point to tell if these areas of precipitation will affect the game tonight or not.I do not believe this is the initial wave of green stuff from the upcoming N’orEaster forecast for the northeast this week.
Look for a monster of a series from Leonardo Abdiel Bernal. Bernal would have fit right in with those tenacious Pirate teams featuring Dave Parker, Davey Cash, Richie Hebner, Richie Zisk, Manny Sanguillen, Freddie Patek, Bob Robertson and of course Willie Stargell. Anyway, The minute Leonardo steps off that plane in The Steel City, he’s going to feel it. Bernal is going to love his first taste of playing in Pittsburgh and boy the results are going to be superb.
If I may, please allow me to submit into evidence Exhibit A (Rat’s above weather report)as to why Rat is this nation’s supreme meteorologist. And we all should feel extremely blessed to have him with us right here at The Cardinal Nation.
Din-Din tonight will be breakfast for din-din. Stepping up to the plate will be scrambled eggs with mass quantities of onions and cheddar cheese, all beef sausage links, red potato wedges, French toast and Folger’s black silk coffee.
Nice observation, Pugs, regarding Freddie Patek beginning his career as a Pirate before being dealt to KC before Gene Alley took over the SS duties during the Pirate ’71 WS championship season. Another fact that is somtimes overlooked is that the Maz appeared in 70 games and split time with Dave Cash at 2B during that same ’71 season. It sometimes seems like just the other day when I was a kid watching Clemente completely conquer the entire playing field during that ’71 Pirates/Orioles WS.
I’m afraid I’ve come under heavy attack by the sleepies and have to count on the rest of y’all to bring it on home. Gnite.

Quite a game thus far for Jared Keith Jones. 6 IP…..0 runs…..1 hit…..8 K’s……0 walks. Game still scoreless.

The Phillies won tonight. 6-4 Philadelphia over the Brewers at Veteran’s Stadium.
Cubs currently trail the Marlins. 2-0 Miami in the 6th at Wrigley.
Padres and Doyers coming up later tonight from Chavez Ravine.
Skippy’s Rangers trail the Mets 5-3 in the visitor half of the 7th at Arlington as the Astros hold onto an early 1-0 lead over the Mariners in the home half of the 1st at SEA as the ALW is still entirely up for grabs. And the Indians hold on to win over the Red Sox as they hang 3-2 W up on the board at Fenway, while the White Sox look like they’ll stay at 1 game off the pace in the ALC as they enjoy a commanding 14-7 lead over the Royals in the home half of the 9th at KC.
