It’s looking more and more like a lineup with Winn 1, Donovan 2 and Burleson 3 is the way to go. Possibly, Contreras at 4 when he returns. Those are the top four hitters, overall, the Cardinals will likely have going soon.
Could Mo pry away both Mayo and Kjerstad from the Orioles for Helsley? If so, that would open up some trade options for needed future starting pitching.
The Cardinals just can’t seem to “get their act together”, collectively, long enough to make a real difference.
Maybe Oli should give this lineup a try. To shake the same ole’, same ole’ up a little. Let Goldy and Gorman try to hit their way back up to 3 and 5.

9) Pages CThe Cardinals have a dilemma in the middle of the order, right now. They simply have to get more power out of Goldschmidt, Gorman and Arenado if they are going to hit there. If they don’t. I’m not sure the solution.
LACardFan, it’s not that. It’s about having the kind of player come through the system that embodies the Cardinals. Donovan and Burleson are those type of players. There are others. As I’ve said before, I’m thrilled to have some players that don’t strike out frequently.
Some are so anxious to try to undermine that they just don’t get it. Let me explain. Even at #7, the Cardinals are fortunate to have a chance to pick a top tier collegiate player. There are seven considered “top tier” and the Cardinals pick seventh. They are fortunate.
Picking at #7, the Cardinals will be in a position to take one of the seven top tier collegiate players available.

Maybe you are the one that needs to “get in touch”. lol
KCB, maybe you should send your body shot to Burly. Let him see what an athletic baseball physique should look like. lol
AdM, you’ve given me enormous grief. You’ve toned it down here. Because Brian doesn’t tolerate the antagonism some other forums do. Votto hit the ball hard consistently. Burleson hits the ball hard consistently. That’s the main and most important comp of the two. I’m getting a kick out you squirming around trying to rationalize Burleson’s recent success. Stay tuned, Counselor, better things are ahead for Burly.
gscottar, I’m just really thrilled the Cardinals have a youngster that has come up through there system that puts the ball in play so frequently. Often at very hard velocity. I’ve grown weary of so many recent Cardinals hitters that strikeout so much.
gscottar, nice sarcasm. You seem skeptical of Burleson’s long-range potential. Am I correct assuming that?
KCB, what do you feel is Burleson’s conceivable ceiling? Joey Votto-type hitter, maybe? Before the last month, so many have underestimated Burleson’s potential to this point as an MLB player. Those same posters will likely underestimate his ceiling.
Does Burleson remain in the regular lineup when Contreras, Nootbaar, Edman and Walker return? Burly, Donovan and Nootbaar seem pretty even, right now, overall. Walker is a wild card for the near future.
AdM, you’ve been bashing Burleson for a long time. Where does he fit in? If you have been paying close attention, please tell us about Burleson’s last two ABs against possibly the most dominant pitcher going right now.
Two considerations for when, Contreras, Nootbaar, Edman and Walker all return. If they bring Walker back up, he’ll start. Second, Oli really likes Burleson’s bat in the lineup. So, who will not be in the lineup?
