If somebody has access to a recent trade value chart, please tell me Nootbaar’s, Carlson’s and Burleson’s current trade values. TIA.
blingboy, I prefer more speed at #2 than Burleson has. However, if Winn’s at 1B after a single or walk, Burly should get some fastballs to hammer. And Burly’s recent power surge makes it nice to have him with a better chance at that 5th AB in the game.
blingboy, are you good with Burleson at #2?
blingboy, Contreras at #3, Goldy at #5 and Arenado at #6 ?
I recognized Burleson’s talent way before 90% of other posters on some popular Cardinals message boards. Some were nasty because I supported Burly though the stats didn’t show it. Many are still in denial of his success. Some making chide remarks still. Strange behavior. Just enjoy what I projected a long tome ago. Cheers!
It’s pretty cool to see Winn’s overall evolution as an MLB hitter. And Burleson’s power is starting to evolve in addition to Gorman’s. Now, if Walker can start clicking at the MLB level. The Cards might really have an exciting offense.
To complicate the lineup possibilities even further. What lineup will Oli go with when both Contreras and Nootbaar return? One way or the other, it’s going to be a fairly deep lineup. Especially, when when Edman also returns. Brian, I’d be particularly interested in what your lineup would be.
Dang BOCfan, you are becoming more obsessed with Burly than me. lol
What’s your Cardinals lineup when Contreras returns? The top six will be very interesting.
BOCfan, do you still feel Burleson should be at Memphis? You sure seem to dwell on Burleson for some reason.
Brian, didn’t the Cardinals “eat” part of Fowler’s salary to move him?
AdM, “Period and end of conversation!” Glad you are giving it up. But that’s doubtful.I stuck my neck out supporting Burleson through his development. You have often dissed Burleson and me in the process. Please enjoy what I’ve been telling you for years about what to expect. Some can project talent. Some can’t.
KCB. that’s lame, please relax. Burleson is a future star whether you want me to discuss my support for him or not. I like the way the organization has produced really solid offensive players like Donovan, Gorman, Winn, and Burleson. Now they need to develop some starting pitching like that.
AdM, you’ve bashed Burleson like this a bunch. “He’s an incredibly mediocre MLB hitter!”. The Cardinals and myself disagree. To each their own. Is the farm still available? lol
If DeWitt is willing to eat half of Arenado’s remaining contract. Mo should be able to get a very good young pitcher or outfield bat in return. Maybe both if the right team comes into play.
And I’m nauseated by hyper-sensitive posters that have undermined Burleson and me for supporting him for a couple seasons. Now, many of the doubters of the past are jumping on board for Burleson. Many of the doubters now have a problem admitting that my loyalty in the past, not their’s, is coming to fruition. Message boards are so entertaining. At least this one is fairly civil.
June 8, 2024 at 5:53 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #65 thread – Saturday, June 8 vs. Rockies #255571Three observations. It won’t happen, but when Contreras gets back in the lineup, neither Goldschmidt or Arenado should bat higher than #6 in the lineup against RHP. Second, be careful about taking Burleson out of a close game with the lead late when he could bat again in a pressure situation late. Burly’s not that bad defensively and he’s a helluva a threat at the plate. And Roycroft is pitching his way into some high leverage relief opportunities.
The anti Shady/Burly crowd are showing their true selves again. Just the same. Burleson has hit a number of ground balls this season within reach of MLB infielders that were hit so hard that MLB infielders couldn’t handle them. Very, very impressive velo. I wish some of them were over the fence. The anti Burly crowd can’t seem to fathom just how consistently hard Burleson hits MLB pitching. They likely feel he should be at Memphis. lol
Maybe I overdo it with Burleson. But he has helped keep the Cardinals team heads above water since Contreras went down. There was some discussion this week between by some quality local radio personalities speculating that Burleson is the best hitter the team, right now. The way Burly, Winn and Gorman have progressed. Get Goldy and Arenado going. Add Contreras and Edman and the Cardinals might have something going. Carlson could be “icing on the cake” if he gets it going. Of course, the pitching needs to hold up.
ATM, that’s interesting. Just curious, did you project Burleson’s development into a very good MLB hitter? Many posters really doubted him as he was developing at the MLB level. I just liked his bat to ball skills. Regardless of the stats at the time. I believe there’s more power to come from Burly.
BOCfan, you underestimated Burleson, too. Some posters have a better ability to project than others. Saggese is going to be a very good MLB hitter. Not sure if either Burleson or Saggese will be able to put up the numbers preferred at 1B. But I wouldn’t count them out just yet.
June 8, 2024 at 12:41 pm in reply to: StL 2024 Game #65 thread – Saturday, June 8 vs. Rockies #255484A nice offensive lineup today. With Winn and Burly at the top and Carp and Carlson at 8 and 9. Need some slugging from Goldy, Gorman and Arenado in the middle.
The possible replacements at 1B is also an interesting consideration. Gorman, Burleson, Walker among them. And I’m pretty sure Saggese could be groomed to play 1B. If his bat would merit it with no openings at 2B or 3B.
blingboy, IMO, you are underestimating Saggese, Prieto and, maybe even, Fermin. They are very good young players. Burleson had plenty of doubters for a while. He’s turning out pretty darn good. Same could happen with Saggese, Prieto and Fermin.
What? I’m just saying these are all good players that could play these infield positions. Arenado and Walker would likely be limited to 3B. There seems to be an abundance of talent at 2B and 3B. Realistically, they all can’t play regularly for the Cardinals at 2B and/or 3B. So some might be expendable as trade chips.
